...the mean-spirited, bitter, heartless, capitalist pig, anti-science, gun-clingin', xenophobic, homophobic, bigoted kind.

Or so I've been told.

After reflection, I conclude that I'm a 'get off my lawn, you damn kids' conservative.

Fair representation of me. Free market/level playing field. All I add is that I'm strongly in favour of stronger regulation for those markets/industries that do not work perfectly.

Quote:
My #1 is: Liberal conservative (in the British sense) - supports free market, but with moderate support for the welfare state and environmentalism. David Cameron
My #2 is: Libertarian conservative - supports free market and social freedoms. Opposed to imperialism.
My #3 is: Moderate conservative - center-right both socially and economically. John McCain.
My #4 is: Federalist conservative - supports a weak federal government and opposes imperialism, but doesn't care much about the actions of local governments. Ron Paul
My #5 is: Paleoconservative - opposed to immigration, protectionist, socially conservative, isolationist, free-market otherwise. Pat Buchanan
My #6 is: Extreme conservative - supports the free market and extreme social conservatism. Tom Coburn.
My #7 is: Green conservative - supports environmental protection.
My #8 is: Liberal conservative (in the non-British sense) - supports free market. Socially moderate. Newt Gingrich
My #9 is: Christian democrat - economically center-left, socially center-right. Also known as compassionate conservatism. Supports some government intervention in the market.
My #10 is: Imperialist conservative - protectionist, interventionist, support of high military spending, anti-immigrant. Joseph Chamberlain.
My #11 is: Neoconservative - support for various government subsidies and high military spending. Socially moderate, interventionist. William Kristol
My #12 is: Socialist conservative - economically far-left, socially right. Supports government nationalization of businesses, as well as social conservatism.

Really it's kinda a badge of honor given that most of the country would consider my views nothing more than mainstream or traditional.

As long as I'm civil and respectful of others I have no control over what they want, or need, to think of me.
