All the contempt I have for the current administration, the term fascism to be used in regards to the government is and cannot be justified and takes, in my view, all credibility from the author.

I agree. Down with fascism. We should just let a cascading collapse of money lenders and banks happen, and in so doing strip the population of their savings and investments. After all, people don't need money for any reason, and I'm sure they won't be exploited in their time of need. Surely, if any chaos ensues, any trade break downs will be temporary and essential needs not being met will see quick resolution, no doubt those so-called fascists will be regarded as heroes for their glorious efforts of failing to stop widespread woe. And in all fairness, the government has never been known to overreact to crises in absurd ways that overextend their authority, so, you know, that won't result in any wholly non-democratic executive issues. Awesome.

Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power. - Benito Mussolini

i think that's what the other is trying to get at.

one does not have to kill 5 million people to be a fascist.

edit: i should note that i don't necessarily agree that the u.s. is a fascist state.

doubled edit: i never knew that mussolini probably didn't even say that.

Sure you don't... and Hitler killed more. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I find it sad when we attribute politics we don't like with terms like fascism or socialism. As I said, I have much contempt for the current administration, and this surely comes from politics that all too well remind me of other autocratic regimes the world has seen, both leftist and right regimes, and you could bend the ideology of fascism as far as to fit Bush's policies into it if you want to.
But it doesn't help the course, it doesn't help any meaningful debate to encounter and it doesn't make for a compelling argument I could buy into.

I don't know about you guys, but me and my jaded, angry rhetoric are heading to a busy street corner in fishnet stockings to entice a revolt.

What a left-wing nutjob.
the Wall Street crisis is a man-made disaster
I bet she's just fine with a Cap & Trade scheme or some other massive government intervention into the markets to solve the "man-made disaster" of global warming. Wanna bet?

AND, I bet she's just fine with the government taking over and funding the roughly 15% of our economy that is healthcare. Wanna bet?
Congressional powers (the few that still remain)
Right, this gets Barney Frank (chairman of the House Financial Services Committee), Chris Dodd (chairman of the Senate Banking Committee) and the Democratically controlled Congress off the hook.
we have but two options... begin impeachment proceedings... The other option... is a total revolution.

Sentiments, no doubt, we'll soon be hearing in a forthcoming "special comment" from Keith Olbermann. Wanna bet?

Talk about overthinking it.

Most people in the world just think the administration's run by morons. They're not inherently evil, they're just stupid.

And you get that statistic where???

You may be right, but judging from the "people in the world" reaction for the last 8 years I'd say many, and by many I mean millions upon millions, of those people don't just think the administration is "stupid". It's a little more complicated than that.

It's a bad assumption, though. Never assume malice when stupidity explains it. Ignorance is a reason in itself, where malice assumes both awareness and intent. Hanlon's razor, and all that. Cock-up before conspiracy.
