Here's a map of the major fires from 12:30pm 10/02, i.e. about 8 hours ago as I post:

Official death toll has been revised up yet again, now to 181.

"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

Damn that's still quite a lot in the Kinglake area!

I have family living near Adelaide, but as far as I know they're fine.

Don't worry baby, it's gonna be all right. Uncertainty can be a guiding light...

This is completely unfahtombale. These pictures and stories are just.

My cousins spent their entire childhood growing up in Marysville. It was a beautiful little town, I was there for a wedding not all that long ago. And now the place has been literally burnt to the ground.

This is not a fucking bushfire. This is literally hell on earth. Fires don't leave places looking like they've dropped a fucking atomic bomb.

hope you are holdin up ok

jesus christ i just looked at the message boards for the missing people . there are SO MANY NAMES. i couldnt even scroll all the way down the page.....

i cant even put it into words.

just tears .

those poor poor people . and i know they wont be comming home .

this is the most horrific thing i have ever experienced , you see other disaters, wars, terrorist attacks and so on accross the world and you think, man thats awful but you cant do much about it , but when it is so close to home, and everyone knows someone who has family or friends affected and its on the radio and tv 24/7 at the moment, its just indescribable.

my mind cant bend to take in the stories of what these people endured and what they have lost. and i have no idea how they will cope with the grief and the task of rebulding, or living in tents untill they get a house or any of those things.

i just hope every person in australia opens their veins , wallets or houses for these poor people.

they are very close to catching the arsonist that started one of the blazes .

and to the fucking moron who came to this thread to shart shit. well you can stick your head up your fucking arse.
we wouldnt do the same to you if you were grieving over a terrorist attack or any other event. show some respect. this has shaken our country to the very foundation.

my love goes out to all who have lost someone or who were or are in danger.

from the late news tonight-
the army has gone to flowerdale for victim recovery and ID and the coroner has set up at marysville .

this toll is going to be enourmous.

just seeing some footage of poor animals with burns , koalas, horses , poor cocky with no feathers left. i doubt you could count the amount of livestock, pets and wildlife lost.

if people have anything left to donate dont forget the RSPCA and other animal charitys because they struggle at the best of times.

Speaking of wildlife, this is one of the most simultaneously adorable and depressing photos ever:

Just reading through this thread... wow... everyone (the entire continent?) will be in my prayers. 118 degrees? That's just... holy shit.

That is a lovely pic. Really shows the humanity of some folks. I hope they catch the sickos who have done this. Over four hundred fires, our news said, 200 people dead and all of this was done on purpose.

My prayers to the families and rescue workers.

That picture takes me back to Katrina - I avoided all news but the one time I turned it on I saw the animals getting helped and I lost it.

I am thinking of everyone over there now. How absolutley devestating.

This photo just sums up how beautiful people can be and I pray that this spirit will continue to find its way into the lives of all of those who have been touched by this horrible horrible tragedy, give them a chance to rebuild and recover.
