I had to laugh, when you said sharks will swim on land and eat people on sidewalks.

But, these fires have nothing to do with God. Some sick bastards set them on purpose and committed mass murder.

Again, my prayers and well wishes, for all of those who have suffered through this. I can't begin to comprehend what it must be like for the families who have lost everything material and even more precious. Someone they loved. I am horrified by this unspeakable act of murder.

To all of our Aussie friends, a big hug! We are here for you.

Was watching the Today Show over breakfast this morning, and in between teh self congratulatory talk about Channel 9 holding the telethon last night, Wilko mentioned Shannon Noll playing a gig in a pub in one of the bushfire affected towns.

The nation cries as one "MY GOD HAVEN'T THOSE PEOPLE SUFFERED ENOUGH!!!!!!!"

the telethon was pretty crap to be honest, the only 2 performances i thought were good were john williamson with "true blue", and angry anderson with "we cant be beaten".

Seriously. Where are the decent performers? '94 Appeal, anyone? Shit, for a donation of your own choice, we got heaps of fairly decent acts for that show. Then there was the exceptional Victor Chang concert for the Heart Foundation. The Sallies Winter Sleepout Appeal, now THAT was superb. Bush were there! If only I cared who they were at the time..

Anyway, it's times like this that I almost wish for Angry freaking Anderson to crawl out of the woodwork... almost. No one can organise a 'root in a brothel' these days. Our ability to rally en masse and fundraise died in the 90's, and we all feel it.

in more important news a 39 yo has been arrested and has been charged with arson causing death for one of the fires, that cost 21 lives, at churchill. (this is according to the 4pm news) he was also charged with posessing child pornography.

arsonist and a peodophile. 2 words with connotations that make me so incredibly angry and full of black bileous hatred.

i cant even begin to think of how many ways this piece of shit should die.

Assuming he's guilty, I'd prefer to just chuck him in the most miserable jail cell the Victorian prison system has to offer, and leave him in solitary confinement so that he can be completely eaten up by guilt.

I'm normally a firm believer in rehabilitation ... but right now I'm reading the latest news stories about the fire and living from one dose of my preventative inhaler to another thanks to the smoke over Melbourne today. It's hard to step back and have some distance when it's so current and so close to home. Got the fucking jitters yesterday when a park in Ivanhoe went up, I believe from embers being carried on the wind but I'm not 100% on that. That's just a bit close to me for comfort. Luckily there was no property damage.

Thanks for the kind words everyone - sadly we lost our two close friends to the fires. Their families found out yesterday after the identification was made and we found out late last night. It's gut wrenching - but at least they died together.

In other news some jackass has lit fires near Lilydale and Ivanhoe so most of the eastern suburbs are quite hazy and you can smell the smoke. I dont think there is any great threat in those fires though. You have to really ponder the stupidity of people sometimes.

Jesus, is there anything in this nation's history of the last 30 years that John Williamson didn't play True Blue at?

And I cant' believe a fire in Ivanhoe? That's suburbia!
