So the American who was charged as a spy over in Russia

Is it just a plot to get Butina back before she spills the beans on Russia, GOP, and the NRA

The Russian lawyer representing the American has stated publicly “I myself hope that we can rescue and bring home one Russian soul”

It’s all really odd.

And if the Dems haven’t requested Trumps tax returns yet they aren’t doing their jobs

Based on what I've heard this guy is a bit of an idiot but not a spy. Multiple experts have said that with his dishonorable discharge for larceny he'd never get security clearance and therefore could never work covertly. But he seemed obsessed with Russia and had lots of Russian friends, some in the military, and if he wasn't too bright, God only knows what sorts of conversations he was having there. So yes, he's being held in retaliation.

Of course the right has already capitalized on this by saying that he's a hostage because Mueller is out of control. 2020 can't come soon enough.

2019 will be the worst year in Donald Trumps life
I sure hope so. I also hope it includes his entire crime family too.
heh...let's hope so (without setting the world on fire).

The theft perpetrated against Hillary Clinton is astonishing and I feel deeply sorry for her, not just for 2016 but the prior 3 decades or so of character assassination and sexism at the hands of various factions of the right/Republicans. Having said that, I think we are all ready for a new chapter.

With respect to Elizabeth Warren, let me be very clear: if she is the nominee running against Trump, there would not be a millisecond of doubt as to whom I would vote for. Zero. If I could, I would volunteer, donate money, do what needs to be done. Nobody on our planet has the luxury of waffling here. In the words of my 3-year-old, "this isn't funny." Having said that, she wouldn't be my first choice. I'm not too concerned about the "she's too liberal" complaint. The reality is that the 20% or so of voters who are Trump's base are a lost cause and I wouldn't even think about them come election time. They are the ones screaming about owning libruls from San Francisco. The squishy middle, I don't think really cares that much, they will either vote on the basis of being sick to their stomach of Trump, or on the basis of their wallets. Warren is populist enough to appeal to them. My concern with her is that she is a policy wonk and tends to sound professorial/not brief enough. She has decent soundbytes on Twitter but I don't know that it translates the same way to speaking on the stump. Since the eventual nominee will have to do battle for media time against that orange whore in office, you really need somebody who is either enigmatic and attractive like Obama or somebody who is loud and brash and takes it to Trump 24/7. Everybody else will just cede time - on covers of newspapers, on the Sunday morning talk shows, the weekly news, etc. Remember how much free advertising Trump got because he attended like 99 Republican primary debates for months and months and then he was so outrageous they started covering his rallies as well. I just don't see Warren as somebody who would give him a run for his money.
As far as policy wonk etc goes ...

that was one "problem" with Hillary not being warm enough- Hillary is quite personable and funny in one to one and small groups many people have attested... but she, too, tend to sounds professorial. Now that doesn't bother me, but it does bother a certain amount of people.

but unless something is terribly wrong with me - I will definitely devote a bunch time to the presidential election in 2020.

But Hannity told him he was far left.
what!? :panic:

I can't believe he put that poster on the table. What an asshole

How about this one

View attachment 12215

yes, this will do. :D

and thanks, tc99 for pointing out the poster phrase, I couldn't read "sanctions" part.

You know you're part "policy wonk and political maven" when on your mini-vaca picking up your sib's mail and watching their big TV, and play their beautiful stereo; you watch Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donell because you don't have Cable TV.

RD played a clip of Nancy Pelosi saying that she thinks the Justice Department should keep the question of indicting president trump open.

I think his stupidity comes from the fact he’s gotten away with scamming people his whole life.

He didn’t think the presidency would be any different.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Congresswoman attacked for dancing
By Chris Bell
BBC The video of Ms Ocasio-Cortez dancing has more than eight million views on Twitter
In the eyes of some social media critics the United States' youngest-ever congresswoman can do no right.

To a lengthy list of past misdemeanours, including her clothes and not being rich , can now be added the grievous crime of dancing while in college.

A day before Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was officially sworn-in , near decade-old footage of the congresswoman dancing as a student at Boston University re-emerged on Twitter, apparently in an effort to embarrass her.

It has since been viewed more than 8 million times.

@realdanjordan tweeted: "High School video of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez -- Congratulations New York!
"Here is America's favourite commie know-it-all acting like the clueless nitwit she is," one right-wing Twitter account, @AnonymousQ1776, wrote as they shared the clip. The account, which appears to reference the bizarre QAnon conspiracy theory , has since been removed.

"After Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is forced out of office after one term she can go dance on a stage that has a pole," said another.

But the criticism prompted a much larger wave of support for the congresswoman online.

"[Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] is officially done," comedian Patton Oswalt joked .

"She'll never recover from the world seeing her dancing adorably and having fun with her friends."

"I want Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to give me dance lessons," Star Trek actor George Takei tweeted , while actor Russell Crowe declared her "fantastic" .

The video of Ms Ocasio-Cortez was compiled from a longer video featuring Boston University students. The video was posted to YouTube in 2010, when Ms Ocasio-Cortez was an undergraduate.

The video was part of a meme circulating at the time.

Participants, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other students at Boston University, emulated the dance from 1980s movie The Breakfast Club in a mash-up featuring the song Lisztomania, by French indie band Phoenix.

In an interview with the Hill, the new lawmaker said "it is not normal for elected officials to have a reputation for dancing well and I'm happy to be one".

"It is unsurprising to me that Republicans would think having fun should be disqualifying or illegal," she added.

On Friday Ms Ocasio-Cortez posted a new video of her dancing outside her new office in the halls of Congress to the tune of War by Edwin Starr.

"I hear the GOP thinks women dancing are scandalous. Wait till they find out Congresswomen dance too!" she wrote.

Since beating veteran Democrat Joe Crowley in a New York congressional primary in July 2018 , Ms Ocasio-Cortez has been subject to unusually intense scrutiny from some conservative critics, particularly online.

Ms Ocasio-Cortez has spoken of her financial struggles, and many of those conservative critics seek to portray her concerns as disingenuous.

In November a Washington Examiner journalist was criticised for a "sexist" tweet, subsequently deleted, in which he posted a picture of Ms Ocasio-Cortez from behind.

"I'll tell you something: that jacket and coat don't look like a girl who struggles," he wrote.

Fox and Friends host Katie Pavlich said Ms Ocasio-Cortez represented "hypocrisy at its best" and had "expensive tastes for a socialist" after she wore expensive clothes, which she did not keep, for a magazine photo shoot.

More recently, right-wing political website the Gateway Pundit has published images from Ms Ocasio-Cortez's high school yearbook in an effort to portray her as part of a wealthy elite.

However, the congresswoman had less than $7,000 (£5,500) in savings, her director of communications told CNBC in November .

Lol wait until the broke ass Trump voters counting on their tax refund feel the full extent of his stubbornness and his administration's rank incompetence. Sure, I'd like my refund too, but I can wait a bit if it means this shutdown starts impacting his supporters in a meaningful way.

Guys, the economy is doing great! Everything is fine! All the winning is getting boring!

I think Benghazi took over 3 1/2 years before it wrapped up (not the house investigations). No indictments

Watergate took close to 5 years. No indictments due to Nixon resigning

Mueller has been at it since May 2017. I fully expect he won’t finish until late 2019....what are we up to right now, 33 indictments ?

But...but...it's totally a nothingburger! I mean, sure, a bunch of people connected to Trump have been arrested, and his own pal Cohen said flat out that he did all his criminal stuff at Trump's behest, but that doesn't prove anything!

Honestly, I can't imagine what it must be like to live that deep in denial.

The TSA thing happened last time there was a shutdown as well, under Obama. It's the most predictable part of this entire thing, and will only get worse as time goes on.

And we're doing this over a useless physical object on the southern border, which we were told would be paid for by Mexico.

So. Much. Winning.
