yeah, the Brit side of the family has been pretty divided by Brexit, but we get past that by just refusing to discuss it, and that's been working really well so far... but they're actually lovely people (mostly) haha

my aunt on the other hand has always been divisive, self-centred, basically a complete narcissist, and has always caused so much trouble in the family whenever she turns up (thank god she lives on another continent, far away) - so the Trump-love was just the last straw on top of lots of other last straws... we're not close at all, so it doesn't make any difference anyway, but yeah i understand what you're saying... I'm fine with different political opinions if i can connect with the person in another way - mostly there are some redeeming features somewhere

Not only that, but both were losers of the popular vote.

I hope you've found it in your heart, Irvine, to forgive Ross Perot.

For his third party run.

Damn straight, I'll bet my left teste that "Babushka" lady did it. Damn Russians spies were everywhere in Dallas that day. Haven't trusted the government since.

I was horrified to see how many white women (being one myself) voted for him!

I've read the Glick article. Makes sense to me, unfortunately.

And a lot of college educated women also voted for him

You seem to be forgetting that Donald Trump is not like any other candidate we’ve ever had. 1992 was never and will never be 2016.

The voters had one job. And some chose self-flattery over civic duty.

Sure. But don't forget, in this age of digital media and gaming and hollywood and reality tv, the presence an continuation of a narrative is really appealing to people.

Voting for something because it's interesting, like not being able to look away at the scene of a crash, is a thing. People would have voted for him cause it was exciting to see where this crazy thing ended.

Not everybody. And not rational people. But that's the thing about democracy. Every person has one equal vote. Rational or not.
