These debates are overblown.

And the areas that are passing these are just going to have to prove that anyone can get a free photo ID otherwise these laws are unconstitutional.

Minnesota's legislature has passed a similar bullshit bill. Thankfully, Gov. Mark Dayton (D) has said he will veto it. We have almost zero voter fraud in MN. Many investigations and the high-profile recounts have proven that.

Why don't Republicans want people to be able to easily vote?

The students are joining public servants marching in support of them because they may lose the power of collective bargaining, gasp, yes that means union busting is going on right here in middle America.

Now, if any students want to "rise up" and give away their tickets to future shows as a show of solidarity against "union busters."

Wisconsin Supreme Court Upholds Antiunion Law

The Wisconsin Supreme Court upheld the law in a 4-3 ruling, with the court’s conservative justices in the majority. The narrow ruling was not surprising out of a court that long has been beset by a sharp divide between its conservative and liberal blocs.

Tuesday’s opinion said Wisconsin circuit-court judge Maryann Sumi exceeded her authority when she issued a permanent injunction in May barring the law from taking effect. The justices wrote, “One of the courts that we are charged with supervising has usurped the legislative power which the Wisconsin Constitution grants exclusively to the legislature.”

11:36 P.M.: Democrats have won a second state senate district — Oshkosh Deputy Mayor Jessica King (D) has beaten state Sen. Randy Hopper (R). King lost narrowly to Hopper in a 2008 race that went to a recount; this time around Hopper took hits not just for his voting record but for his messy divorce and relationship with a staffer.

According to local reports, Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus will not report for over an hour — just like in the state Supreme Court race earlier this year, it all comes down to this county in the fight between Darling and state Rep. Sandy Pasch (D).

Ok, they got two seats.

But, the 3rd seat that the Dems have had a lead all night might not finish that way.

Waukesha again in the cross-hairs

A large chunck of votes just came in for Darling in Waukesha County, putting her in the lead 52-48 with nearly 80% counted. As Election Law Blogger Rick Hasen notes, Waukesha is the same county that screwed up in the Supreme Court race. If Darling pulls this out, we may be hearing about this one tomorrow

GOP will not lose the 3rd seat. Through 68% of the votes counted, the Dem had the lead.

Waukesha County seems to wait until they can decide elections.

Epic fail on the part of progressives, union bosses, Ed Schultz and other defenders of the unsustainable status quo. They hoped to stop gov Walker in his tracks and send a loud message to other states attempting common sense reform and fiscal restraint.

Instead, they got 47% of the vote and won 2 seats they were gonna win next fall anyway.

December 14, 2011 Signatures of Hitler, Mickey Mouse acceptable on Scott Walker recall petitions

The signatures of Adolf Hitler and Mickey Mouse will be counted in the effort to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, so long as they are properly dated and bear a Wisconsin address.

The Government Accountability Board reviewing the petitions unanimously approved a plan that would allow questionable names to be counted if they are signed within the circulation dates and have a proper address, WISN Milwaukee’s Channel 12 is reporting. According to the ABC affiliate, the suspicious names will be noted as such, but will not be eliminated without a challenge.

“All signatures are given the basic presumption of validity,” said petition reviewer co-team leader Katie Mueller before the board. “So it may not be eliminated due to the fact that this is a valid signature on face value.”

I see that Democrats are getting along just fine without the services of ACORN.

Last April, after months of laying siege to the Wisconsin capitol building, unions poured $4.5 million into the state to unseat Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David Prosser in an election. Though their efforts ultimately failed, unions did all they could legally and now, it seems, illegally to win at all costs.

In October, Media Trackers uncovered documents exposing three SEIU-affiliated individuals who took advantage of Wisconsin’s lax voter registration rules to register and vote by using a Residence Inn as their address. The individuals, SEIU organizer Todd E. Stoner from Freehold, New Jersey; Clarence Haynes, a SEIU organizer from Florida; as well as Austin Lee Thompson, a left-wing protester employed by an SEIU-affiliated group, all used the Residence Inn in Glendale, Wisconsin as their address.

Now, Milwaukee’s Assistant District Attorney has taken an interest by issuing a search warrant for Clarence Haynes.

Can't wait for the unions to roll into Indiana when our legislature takes up right-to-work legislation. They're so classy.

What about the right to choose to join a union or not? Or the right of non-Democrats to not have part of their paycheck stripped away to support candidates or causes they don't.

I believe there's a place for unions but they seriously need to join the 21st century. The top-heavy, heavy-handed model isn't working in a highly competitive, global market that severely punishes inefficiency and bloated labor costs.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTW) — The Indiana House speaker has called off what would have been the first day of the new legislative session after most House Democrats remained behind closed doors to discuss their response to a "right-to-work" bill pushed by majority Republicans.

Republican Speaker Brian Bosma tried three times Wednesday afternoon to gavel the House into order, but each time no more than five of the 40 Democratic members were on the floor.

Bosma says he'll try to have the House meet on Thursday, but that a Democratic boycott won't lead to Republicans backing off on the "right-to-work" bill.

This is what "union-bought" democracy looks like.

Gov. Daniels signs right to work bill

Gov. Mitch Daniels signed "right to work" legislation this afternoon without a ceremony, making Indiana the 23rd state in the nation with the law.

Daniels and other Republican supporters characterized the measure as needed for Indiana to attract jobs.

“The only change will be a positive one," the governor said in a statement released today by his office.

"Indiana will improve still further its recently earned reputation as one of America’s best places to do business, and we will see more jobs and opportunity for our young people and for all those looking for a better life.”

His signature will make Indiana the 23rd state in the nation with the law, and the first in the so-called “rust belt” states of the industrial Midwest and Northeast.

The next few years are going to be booming for U-Haul renters in Ohio, Michigan and our president's home state.

With only about four hours into the Election Day voting, members of the Milwaukee Democratic Party claim that calls are going out to voters telling them if they'd signed the recall, they didn't need to vote today.

Meanwhile, State Sen. Lena Taylor, D-Milwaukee, sent a letter to Government Accountability Board Director Kevin Kennedy asking for an investigation into that alleged call and another that claimed the election was Wednesday.

People calling in on the radio in Wisconsin are saying today that voter turn out at some polls is higher than in 2008! That usually means good news for Dems, I hope so anyway. Record number of voters so far!

Did you hear about the robo calls going around last night? Someone put together a robo call in Walker's camp to try and make people confused saying that if they signed the recall petition they didn't need to go vote.

i'm wondering why we don't just elect Foster Friess and/or Sheldon Aldelson to the presidency. as billionaires they are entitled to much more free speech than the rest of us.

I do believe public pensions and benefits are a serious problem, they are way out of portion compared to the private sector.

But, this meat cleaver approach does seem a bit too heavy handed, I am not sure how I would vote if I lived in Wisconsin.

Unless you are equally concerned with billionaires like George Soros pumping money into Wisconsin or union protestors being bussed in from other states your objection rings rather hollow.
