I think your point 3 is pretty spot on, except for the conclusion of course.

As someone who was married and had/has zero intention or desire of ever having children, I can say with confidence that you will be judged constantly for this. At least 60% of the time I told anybody who had children that I didn't want them, I was told I would change my mind, I would have an unfulfilling life, I would die lonely, I don't know what I really want for my own life, I would never regret any decision in my life more than that one, my entire life was going to be a complete and utter waste, I was selfish and lazy and entitled, or just outright laughed at patronizingly, like a kid saying he's going to be a dragon when he grows up

I have actually heard all of these personally, even from my own family.

The legality of SSM has no effect on assholes being assholes, trust me.

A conservative North Dakota lawmaker has come out of the closet after lewd texts he sent on a gay dating site were made public this week.

The randy red-state Republican, Rep. Randy Boehning, was outed Monday, more than a month after the Roughrider State legislator sent an unsolicited picture of his penis and several other messages to 21-year-old Bismarck resident Dustin Smith back on March 12 on the gay dating site Grindr, according to multiple reports.

Boehning, a 12-year veteran of North Dakota's state assembly who has routinely voted against gay rights legislation, charged that the leaked messages were sent to media outlets in retaliation for his vote against Senate Bill 2279, which would have added sexual orientation to the state's anti-discrimination law. For the third time since 2009, the bill was voted down by conservative North Dakota lawmakers, including Boehning.

But Smith, who first leaked the Grindr messages to The Forum, claims he simply wanted to reveal Boehning's hypocrisy.

"How can you discriminate against the person you're trying to pick up?" Smith told the local Bismark-area newspaper on Monday.

Boehning, 52 and unmarried, has been an active member of the site and conducted his affairs under the profile name "Top Man!," Smith said.

"Seems I haven't found mister right yet, so need to keep looking for and having fun on the way! Hit me up boys," Boehning's Grindr bio reads.

Boehning, a staunch conservative, insistently refused to comment on the allegations for two weeks, but this week finally came forward to admit that he had been using the platform to chat with other men and that he was gay, according to The Forum.

"That's what gay guys do on gay sites, don't they?" Boehning said. "That's how things happen on Grindr. It's a gay chat site. It's not the first thing you do on that site. That's what we do, exchange pics on the site."

"The 1,000-pound gorilla has been lifted," he told the Forum. "I have to confront it at some point."

The incident comes eight years after Republican U.S. Sen. Larry Craig of Idaho was arrested at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport by a plainclothes police officer responding to a report of lewd conduct complaints in a men’s public restroom.

Craig, another conservative lawmaker with a history of voting against gay rights bills, was accused of soliciting an undercover police officer for sexual activity after he reportedly tapped his foot from inside a bathroom stall to signal he was in search of a sexual encounter.

At the time, a spokesman for Craig described the incident as a “he said/he said misunderstanding." To this day, he insists he was not seeking a sexual encounter.
As Rick Perry would say, "Oops"

I had a vasectomy at age 30 (I'm 35 now). Heard the same things.

Does kind of limit your dating pool haha

I almost got a vasectomy last spring/summer. My ex was having issues with birth control, and neither of us wanted kids.

Long story short, I didn't get it, and I'm glad I didn't (still don't want kids, ever ever ever).

Yeah I keep hearing that shit over and over again too. Luckily I have a few friends who share my view. There's enough people on this planet, if I ever feel the need to nurture something I'll get a cat (ok I lie, I have a cat already).

It's kinda ironic they call you selfish and entitled. Why do people MUST produce their own offspring when there's so many orphans in the world? If they were truly selfless they'd adopt instead.

owait, that's exactly what a lot of gay people do when they want children. BUT THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!!!!

The article Mrs Garrison post makes me more sad than laughing at it... It's a fucked up world if a gay person is discriminating himself for who he is, just to desperately keep trying to fit the ideal picture of society in his head.

This crazy idea that marriage must be tied to kids is fraught with logical fallacies, but it is the sort of last vestige of what many of these people have to hang on to.

As an aside it really bugs me when these kids of statements are made. As if adoption is easy or cheap or readily available to everyone. I know plenty of people who have dealt with infertility and have sunk TENS of thousands of dollars into adoptions, applied with multiple agencies, are on a wait list, etc. It is an extremely difficult, expensive and emotionally taxing time (you try taking home a baby where the birth mother changes her mind in two weeks). People make it sound as if you can walk into a grocery store and buy a kid.

I know it's very hard to adopt, but it was just for the sake of the argument that not wanting kids is selfish. It takes a lot of time, money and guts to adopt a child and I applaud people who make that choice. But above all I think people should be free to make their own choice in having kids or not without being bitched at.

there should be a service that time shares kids

(and pets)

if four couples can own a vacation home, why not share a kid.
