Oh yeah, when I visited the US, that definitely struck me as bizarre, in an uncomfortable sort of way. Can't fathom why anybody, for instance, would be packing a gun on their family trip to the park.
Like I said, this is not a cultural norm. I'd feel the same way and so would most of my family and friends. I don't feel I have any use for a gun, I don't invoke my "right" to carry one, and I won't allow them in my home. Unless someone is going on some sort of military mission I don't get why people "need" to always have them.
