That's what they all say! There must be highways with no one on it every time, eh?

Bigjohn, I happened to read somewhere in this forum that you're a federal officer? Doesn't it have to do something with law?

im sure "they all" havent had extensive training and experience in tactical/defensive driving.

i dont enforce traffic laws, so dont try the "you're a cop you should set an example" argument. and where i work, traffic "laws" arent enforced and the maximum speed limit on the island is 35mph and the max you can drive safely is about 45-50mph on the 1 only straight road for about a mile and a half.

Most of them don't. And if they do, most of them use it as an excuse to speed and drive recklessly.

i think there just might be a little difference between speeding and reckless driving.

Keep on speeding, big boy!
No one is trying to defend reckless or aggressive driving. But when you can monitor a road and 95% of the people driving are over the limit by some amount, then something's wrong.

So the choices are:

1) 95% of the public are criminals, and need to be punished by the all-knowing government (which is made up of those very same people, btw)

or

2) The speed limit was not properly set based on road conditions. And FYI, speed limits are supposed to be set based on how fast people normally travel on a road.

Unfortunately, people like you who only see "speeders" and "everyone else" are what's made it easy for local governments to force these contraptions on us and put them in places where speeding and accidents were never a problem.

I'm glad your cameras are working so well for you. A lot of people thought George Bush did a fantastic job running this country. Perhaps you'd like to have him as your next president. The point is that what works well in your country won't necessarily work well in every country.

There's a section of highway in my area that has, for no reason, a half-mile stretch where the speed limit is 35 MPH. I do 50 on it every day as I go into school. If I did less I'd fuck up the traffic flow.

Cydewaze, I was only reacting to what Bigjohn said. That made me mad. Please read! Maybe he is a careful driver, but that can't be said of most of speeders and I truly hope he is what he tells he is.
That's the only thing I wanted to say here.

I'm definately not saying that things which work here in Holland will necessarily work well abroad. That would be stupid.

I don't know where the F you get this from, but to me it draws some conclusions on your IQ.

i feel bad for you if things strangers say on a message board make you mad, maybe you should "please read" before you get so upset.

My IQ is 72, thank you very much.

My comment was an analogy to point out how something that might work well here (or there) might not work well in the reverse.

I'm no fan of GWB btw.
