dazzledbylight, it seems pretty hopeless.

They can derail what ever next efforts President Obama wants to chnage or add onto things he's already done.
This would just be a continuation of this term, then. Obama I think made the critical mistake of handing the process of health care reform over to the Democrats in Congress, who as we saw during the Bush years are all mostly looking after their individual cowardly asses.

Exactly. The Democrats have not catered strictly to their base for quite some time, all sorts of people can find themselves under the Democrat label, which is what I thought most Americans wanted out of their politics. It's strange that they're having such a hard time rallying more supporters, you'd think it'd be so easy. But never underestimate the Republicans' ability to strike fear into people's hearts.

Oh, please, please let that age end as soon as humanly possible.

Your advice is nice and sound, I don't disagree with your suggestion. But looking at our potential options, sometimes it's not always easy to "chill out".

Exactly. Anyway, I post these messages to get people thinking...Who knows, maybe it'll change a mind or two of someone right on the fence.

I'm not going to give up hope till it's all over. An hopefully it'll still be Speaker Nancy Pelosi, which would at least cut off the Impeachment Circus.

Depsite (and I was getting more down--) the poles they keep putting out- I have heard some people, and some things that have given me some more hope in the past week.()

You don't always hear about the good and really good progressives in this country. Partly it's coporate media and then the bullhorn of Fox News. They're more than just a very few. I'm happy when when we can get a moderate Dem to vote withthe liberals. OF course I'm much happier with all around liberal/prgressive Dems.

Losing Sen Ted Kennedy was a big blow. The Lion of the Senate. And Robert Byrd would nail Republicans on certain illegial Consitutional; "..when does the greed stop...' . moves they'd try to make.

Certain liberal Dems are going to try harder to upush the President furhter on things. FDR said to supporters you're going to have to push me.

One concern is if the Republicans gain control of the House ...is all the obstruction and then as the more expected outcome of that The Public will blame The Presdident and throw him out.

The other scenario would be (more of) The Public waking up enougth to see The Republcans for what they are even more so now ( since the moderate & liberal Republicans are almost gone).

No recession is ever good for the party in power, at the end of the day Obama was the silver bullet candidate elected at the absolutely worst time possible to actually legislate and push the country forward.

lets not forget....its the government that has failed us....so easy to say it was the president or the congress, but both parties have had control of both over the last 30 years so lets place the blame where it needs to be on spending. EVERYONE

Greed has them all by the balls. Byrd was the KING of pork barrel projects for WVA. Unfortunately, its the lame extremists on both sides that have the loudest voice. Not the more common sense middle of the road from both sides.
