that's my complaint. the concert was staged for TV. it was not staged for those in attendence.
The crowd they show on TV was the VIP section, which is kind of annoying. I'm not sure the Lincoln Memorial layout is well suited to staging concerts for live audiences - the reflecting pool, high elevation, trees, etc. make it difficult. The Washington monument or an open area would be a much better spot for a live audience.

Garth had everyone hooked and jumping, including me, a FORMER G.B. fan from yester-year!

pink houses was terrific. forgot about that.

garth did do easy songs, yes, but he did them well.

this land is your land was great.

U2 were as good as anyone else, though i don't think they were clearly "the best" or whatever. what i took away from their performance is that, for all the knocks that HTDAAB takes, COBL is every bit a classic, all-time U2 athem for now and forever. it sounded majestic and got a bigger reaction out of the crowd than "pride."

but it was history. was glad to be there.

No, it was definitely me.

I just saw Pride again - the pregnant pause is not very pregnant on repeated viewings. It's hardly even noticeable.

Hey groover . . . coverage starts on Channel 9 (sydney) at 11pm, SBS I think from 11.30pm or midnight tonight . . . give em an hour of preamble and tracing the journey to the white house and the real show will poss kick off around 12.30am / 1am our time . . . just checked a tv guide though and no mention . . . weird cuz I know I've seen the promo's . . . hope that helped somewhat

EDIT : . . . checked SBS and here's what they said

The historic ceremony will be shown at 12.30pm AEDT on 21 January, shortly after the swearing-in takes place.

Hosted by SBS World News Australia presenter Anton Enus, the program will also feature interviews, analysis and special guests.

"The inauguration of a new US President is an historic moment in time," said Anton.

"It will be fascinating to hear the newly sworn-in President’s inauguration speech.

New directions

"It is bound to provide the world with greater understanding of his administration’s new directions."

SBS's senior correspondent Brian Thomson will report direct from Washington as the US welcomes its new leader to the White House - and bids farewell to current president, George W Bush.

"President Bush will complete his tenure as leader of the most powerful country in the world during a very challenging period in history - and history has not yet had the time to judge him," said Anton.

The Inauguration of the 44th President of the USA, Barack Obama, on SBS - 21 January at 12.30pm AEDT.

Lies, I think it's supposed to be noon EST that the swearing-in takes place.

Cheney in his wheelchair with his cane reminded me of the Star Wars emperor with his cane sitting in that throne chair.

I saw Dick Cheney smile today. It took 8 years for the man to smile, and it's on the day he leaves office.

he thought he was quite clever to use the wheelchair prop for a little sympathy

he was smiling because he can't believe he got away with murder and the theft of billions,
(and he can't wait to get home and watch some hard-core lesbian porn, only to give Lynne some new inspiration for a follow-up to her previously released book, "Sisters")
