Levi Johnston isn't just getting past his differences with Bristol Palin – he's also hoping to make amends with her famous mom.

"Last year, after Bristol and I broke up, I was unhappy and a little angry. Unfortunately, against my better judgment, I publicly said things about the Palins that were not completely true," he tells PEOPLE exclusively. "I have already privately apologized to Todd and Sarah. Since my statements were public, I owe it to the Palins to publicly apologize."

Bristol added her own statement Tuesday saying, "Part of co-parenting is creating healthy and honest relationships between the parents. Tripp one day needs to know the truth and needs to know that even if a mistake is made the honorable thing to do is to own up to it.

Johnston and the former vice presidential candidate had been engaged in a war of words, with the 20-year-old accusing Palin of complaining about her job as governor of Alaska and claiming "there was a lot of talk of divorce" in the Palin household.

Palin spoke out against the "malicious" remarks and also ripped Johnston for posing for Playgirl and talking about sex on The Tyra Banks Show.

Though they had been in a bitter custody battle, Bristol, who recently made her acting debut on ABC Family's The Secret Life of the American Teenager, has said she and Johnston want to turn "a new page here as co-parents … and [put] aside the past because doing so is in [our son] Tripp's best interest."

"So to the Palin family in general and to Sarah Palin in particular, please accept my regrets and forgive my youthful indiscretion," Johnston says in the statement. "I hope one day to restore your trust."
There was an article last night about this. He did privately sit down with Mr and Mrs Palin, discussed the whole thing, and they all agreed to forgive and keep the child as focus. He admitted everything, (flase statements etc ) to them, and publicly

I will see if I can find it, but he statement made by all was a very good resolution, for all. He came clean and they forgave him.

That's cool.

still think the video of the college students (or younger guys) making the comments after her speech said it best. she is nothing more than talking points or phrases.

What exactly did she say in that video? I heard she's (or they) are going to turn this thing around, and how women are like bears.

i can't wait for her primary

This is the best and brightest of the Republican/Conservative/Tea Party? What has happened to the GOP?

The way Barack's numbers are going she actually may have a chance to get elected, I may have to move to another country if this happens.

She will have a one hour special on FOX next year in which she will announce whether or not she will run. If she doesn't Republicans and Tea Partiers and mama grizzlies will burn piles of stuffed pink elephants in effigy.

If she doesn't, well women everywhere simply don't deserve that type of cowardly betrayal by that self titled narcissistic former Queen of Wasilla.

What the hell?

I work hard and pay my own bills. And I'm a liberal.

This whole movement is a pile of crap. I'm sorry.

and this is the core of it: (white) resentment.

There is no 'free' lemonade

In giving drink away, girls ignore rules of economics -- and sum up what's wrong with U.S.

July 5, 2010
BY TERRY SAVAGE Sun-Times Columnist
This column is a true story -- every word of it. And I think it very appropriate to consider around the Fourth of July, Independence Day spirit.

Last week, I was in a car with my brother and his fiancee, driving through their upscale neighborhood on a hot summer day. At the corner, we all noticed three little girls sitting at a homemade lemonade stand.

We follow the same rules in our family, and one of them is: Always stop to buy lemonade from kids who are entrepreneurial enough to open up a little business.

My brother immediately pulled over to the side of the road and asked about the choices.

The three young girls -- under the watchful eye of a nanny, sitting on the grass with them -- explained that they had regular lemonade, raspberry lemonade, and small chocolate candy bars.

Then my brother asked how much each item cost.

"Oh, no," they replied in unison, "they're all free!"

I sat in the back seat in shock. Free? My brother questioned them again: "But you have to charge something? What should I pay for a lemonade? I'm really thirsty!"

His fiancee smiled and commented, "Isn't that cute. They have the spirit of giving."

That really set me off, as my regular readers can imagine.

"No!" I exclaimed from the back seat. "That's not the spirit of giving. You can only really give when you give something you own. They're giving away their parents' things -- the lemonade, cups, candy. It's not theirs to give."

I pushed the button to roll down the window and stuck my head out to set them straight.

"You must charge something for the lemonade," I explained. "That's the whole point of a lemonade stand. You figure out your costs -- how much the lemonade costs, and the cups -- and then you charge a little more than what it costs you, so you can make money. Then you can buy more stuff, and make more lemonade, and sell it and make more money."

I was confident I had explained it clearly. Until my brother, breaking the tension, ordered a raspberry lemonade. As they handed it to him, he again asked: "So how much is it?"

And the girls once again replied: "It's free!" And the nanny looked on contentedly.

No wonder America is getting it all wrong when it comes to government, and taxes, and policy. We all act as if the "lemonade" or benefits we're "giving away" is free.

And so the voters demand more -- more subsidies for mortgages, more bailouts, more loan modification and longer periods of unemployment benefits.

They're all very nice. But these things aren't free.

The government only gets the money to pay these benefits by raising taxes, meaning taxpayers pay for the "free lemonade." Or by printing money -- which is essentially a tax on savings, since printing more money devalues the wealth we hold in dollars.

If we can't teach our kids the basics of running a lemonade stand, how can we ever teach Congress the basics of economics?

Or maybe it's the other way around: The kids are learning from the society around them. No one has ever taught them there's no free lunch -- and all they see is "free," not the result of hard work, and saving, and scrimping.

If that's what America's children think -- that there's a free lunch waiting -- then our country has larger problems ahead. The Declaration of Independence promised "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." It didn't promise anything free. Something to think about this July 4th holiday weekend.

And that's the Savage Truth!

There is no 'free' lemonade :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Terry Savage

i mean, jesus -- what an asshole.

i mean, jesus
speaking of which.

It's a wonder so many of these people are Christians, seeing as how the whole religion is built on this notion of a free gift from God that you can't possibly earn. How they can abide this socialism is beyond me.

Dude, there is not a chance in hell she is running for President . Don't worry about it.

Worry about Chris Christie. Worry about Mitt. Be very worried about Newt . 2 more years of this, bozo the clown could run and get elected . It will be one of those anyone but them things. It will take decades for the demo's to recover.
