An artist and photographer named Eli Rezkallah created a photo series in which he took these ads and made his own new version of them, switching the gender roles. He was inspired by a family Thanksgiving discussion in which his uncles said that women were better off fulfilling their womanly duties of cooking and cleaning.

He calls his work In A Parallel Universe

I was probably a bit too young for many of these as i probably wasn't looking at the regular magazines of that era just yet. I bet I did see some that were almost as insulting in the mid-60's, though (vs mid-late 50's, early 60's).

Went to site. Also liked the Van Huesan one! As i suspected most of these were
around the earlier time frame i conjectored, though there were ? two from the 1940's!
