I don't think the kids know about her award for best anal sex scene..unless they can access TMZ. Hopefully not the scene itself or any porn in any way, shape, or form. She doesn't do porn now. I'd be willing to bet that some of the other readers might have some skeletons in their closets. "Hot for teacher", not in the best taste TMZ considering the age of the kids.

Porn legend Sasha Grey -- winner of the 2010 AVN award for best anal sex scene -- was invited to read books to 1st graders at an L.A.-area elementary school last week ... but the school tried to cover it all up ... after parents pitched a fit.

TMZ has obtained photos of Sasha reading children's books at Emerson Elementary School in Compton on November 2nd ... participating in the Read Across America program. Grey, who hasn't done porn in 2 years, may have been invited because she's mainstream now, with credits which include "Entourage."

Sasha tweeted about the experience -- calling the students the "sweetest" ever. However, not everyone saw it that way ... some angry parents complained to the PTA -- who then contacted the school's principal ... but there's one problem.

A rep for the school district is flatly denying Sasha was ever inside one of its classrooms -- telling TMZ, "We have several celebrities who read to our students each year. The actress you have indicated [Sasha] was not present."

Clearly, the photos we obtained show otherwise.

SASHA'S STATEMENT:

"I am proud to have participated in the "Read Across America" program at Emerson Elementary School in Compton, CA. I read “Dog Breath” by Dav Pilkey to the sweetest 1st and 3rd grade children.

"Read Across America" is a program that was designed to promote literacy and instill a lifelong love of reading in elementary school students. Promoting education is an effort that is close to my heart. Illiteracy contributes to poverty; encouraging children to pick up a book is fundamental.

I believe education is a universal right. I committed to this program with the understanding that people would have their own opinions about what I have done, who I am and what I represent.

I am an actor. I am an artist. I am a daughter. I am a sister. I am a partner. I have a past that some people may not agree with, but it does not define who I am.

I will not live in fear of it. To challenge non-profit education programs is an exercise in futility, counter-productive and anti-educational.

I cannot thank my fans and 'Read Across America' enough for supporting my decision. Your support and kind words continue to inspire me. I believe in the future of our children, and I will remain an active supporter and participant in education-focused initiatives."

I have a feeling she's doing this to somehow cover up her past and to be accepted now as a normal working individual.

Most porn actresses go into porn solely because of the money, $1000-$1500 per scene doesn't sound bad after making +200 films. Regardless of this motivation, there is a lot of actresses who regret it later, retire, and reluctantly try to hide their past by doing nice things in the eyes of society.

I personally don't think that she is setting a bad example, these young kids don't even know who she is or that porn even exists.

a poor and selfish choice on her part,

of course parents are going to be upset,
they are required to have their kids in school and they don't need their kids being stigmatized as the ones that met a porn star.

Are you kidding/being sarcastic or just playing the DA again?

She's not really harming any children, unlike someone like..say. Sandusky. Who used a so called charity program to help troubled kids as a way to find kids to molest and rape.

The kids had no idea she was a porn star until the PARENTS brought that to light. If they hadn't, well no "stigma". They would have just remembered her as a nice lady who read to them. Her statement seems pretty sincere, I give her the benefit of the doubt. Don't need or want to know about her award winning performance, but I'm not going to discount her involvement in reading to kids because of that either.

the school covering it up is the part that worries me. In a post-Sandusky time that we are so recently in, youd think any school would want to be as forthcoming as humanly possible.

Thats a true point. They don't know. But really, take that example further and it doesn't really provide the answers we need.

Does it matter to America of the 1960's that JFK was having alleged affairs while presenting the life of Camelot? That does reflect on his character and his character is tantamount to his Office.

As a willing porn actress, Grey has made an adult decision about her values and about who she is as a woman. I can't see in any way how this truth could be positive for young people who are developing their value system about the world. At high school age, students need role models to make informed decisions about the routes they are going to pursue in life.

Some may see what she does as emancipation.

It is true that in America many people seem to have a pre-occupation with this subject. It is unfair that just because a female has an inclination to lead through education that their personal matters should be so heavily scrutinized. But that doesn't seem to be going away.

Wow, I'm all over the place on this. But, I'll settle on this one:

If she isn't going to change her name from her porn days, she has to accept there will be fallout from it.

I wouldn't care if my child was in one of the classes, because if I had a child that age, I would keep them ignorant about porn. If they asked why people were upset about the nice lady that read to them, I would explain that some people don't like what she used to do for work, and then change the subject to ice cream.

I saw a Penthouse when I was in 2nd grade, and it really meant nothing to me (until roughly 6th grade).

I saw Sasha Grey in the Steven Soderberg indie film "The Girlfriend Experience." Pretty good film. I didn't find her to be a particularly spectacular actress but the role kind of worked for her. Definitely appears she's trying to put the adult film business behind her.

I think the parents over-reacted.

Looks like this whole thing is just blowing up in her face.

I'll let myself out :shifty:

I'm sure this won't hurt her chances at a new life. She's been in much stickier situations that this one

Well, she could always go back to being a babysitter. She was very, very good at that and pleased a lot of "parents"

This must be a difficult PR situation; she should probably sit on it for a bit.
