That old canard about wiping Israel off the map has been debunked so many times as a mis-translation of what Ahmadinejad really said – which was something more akin to predicting that Israel would be washed away by the tides of history and demography – yet it keeps bouncing right back. Just like all the other lies spread far and wide by the War Party's propagandists. Remember that one about Mohammed Atta meeting a top Iraqi intelligence official at the Prague airport? That one didn't die until well after the invasion. I wonder how many people still believe Saddam Hussein was behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks? A lie, repeated relentlessly, becomes enmeshed in the public consciousness, and rooting it out is a major operation, with a problematic success rate.

That's what we do, here at Antiwar.com – root out the lies, and set the record straight. We did it in the run-up to the last war, and we're doing the same thing when it comes to the Iranian issue. The chances that we'll succeed, this time, in stopping the rush to war are better now, perhaps, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. The forces pushing for war, led by the Israel lobby, are marshalling their supporters for a final push. Even if they don't pull it off before the election, the Holbrooke-Woolsey Pact will go down in history as the turning point, politically, the crucial juncture when the American elite made the decision to go to war because the Lobby demanded it.

Ahmadinejad accepts Israel's right to existThe Iranian president has said he would accept a two-state solution if the Palestinians agree. So where are the headlines?

President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has made a remarkable announcement. He's admitted that Iran might agree to the existence of the state of Israel.

Ahmadinejad was asked: "If the Palestinian leaders agree to a two-state solution, could Iran live with an Israeli state?"

This was his astonishing reply:

If they [the Palestinians] want to keep the Zionists, they can stay ... Whatever the people decide, we will respect it. I mean, it's very much in correspondence with our proposal to allow Palestinian people to decide through free referendums.

But, but... that doesn't fit in with the West's caricature of Ahmadinejad as the next Hitler!

Like Adolf Hitler in his day, his voice echoed through the assembly hall and his speech was full of rhetoric and hate and, like Hitler, he mesmorized most of his audience who responded with applause.

Like Hitler, he of course blamed all the world's troubles (particularly the present economic crisis) on the Jews who "control the world's economy".

Like Hitler, he stood there with no one to oppose him and no one telling him that he's going too far and that hatred will lead him nowhere, and not to blame other people for his own inadequacies.

Just like Hitler envisioned the destruction of all the Jewish population in Europe (eventually murdering 6 million), so the little man with the big mouth envisions the destruction of the state of Israel (population 7 million)

Just like Hitler had the SS and Gestapo to torture, maim and kill for him, so Ahmadinejad has Hezbollah to spread terror and destruction around the world, killing thousands of innocent people.

Just like Hitler had an unholy alliance with Benito Mussolini in fascist Italy, so Ahmadinejad has his good friend Hugo Chavez in Venezuela - another dictator who spares no words when it comes to bashing the west (and especially the U.S.A).

Just like Hitler, he is leading his country to ruin and isolation by his own actions.

.......however, UNLIKE in Hitler's time.....there is a state of Israel which can (and will) protect itself against any threat of destruction and his delusions of Israel's destruction will blow up right in his face.

Peace to all of you,
Elaine

That's a big if guys. Hamas is in power. He would have to disagree with Hamas first before he would be in line with the west's attitude of Israel's right to exist.

So when all of Palestine is liberated it will be up to the rightful Islamic leaders to decide if the Zionists (not the Zionist Entity, which will be wiped from the pages of time) are allowed to stay.
