I think it's almost impossible to have this discussion with anybody who doesn't have a philosophy degree because truthfully how many people have any idea what Kantian ethics are?

One doesn't need to elucidate what Kantian ethics means in order to take away from Philosophy 101 that Kant's categorical imperative is a foundational maxim in Western thought. To this day, almost all rational discourse runs through this filter.
