I think that has a lot to do with it. It's telling that he went to Paterno instead of the police. Sort of reminds of the scene in A Few Good Men where Kendrick says his superiors are Jessep and God. McQueary's superiors were Paterno and God.

Paterno's influence over Spanier has been exaggerated, but in the world of the football program, Paterno was the authority. He was the institution.

5am
Friday morning
Thursday night
Far from sleep
I'm still up and driving
Can't go home
obviously
So I'll just change direction
Cause they'll soon konw where I live
And I wanna live

Got a full tank and some chips
It was me and a gun
And a man on my back
And I sang "holy holy" as he buttoned down his pants
You can laugh
It's kind of funny things you think
at times like these
Like I haven't seen Barbados
So I must get out of this

Yes I wore a slinky red thing
Does that mean I should spread
For you, your friends your father, Mr. Ed

Me and a gun
and a man
On my back
But I haven't seen Barbados
So I must get out of this
Yes I wore a slinky red thing
Does that mean I should spread
For you, your friends your father, Mr. Ed
And I know what this means
Me and Jesus a few years back
Used to hang and he said
"It's your choice babe just remember
I don't think you'll be back in 3 days time
So you choose well"
Tell me what's right
Is it my right to be on my stomach
of Fred's Seville

Me and a gun
and a man
On my back
But I haven't seen Barbados
So I must get out of this

And do you know Carolina
Where the biscuits are soft and sweet
These things go through you head
When there's a man on your back
And you're pushed flat on your stomach
It's not a classic cadillac

Me and a gun
and a man
On my back
But I haven't seen Barbados
So I must get out of this

The WaPo piece could perhaps also be read as suggesting that homophobia and difficulty seeing males as victims are ultimately expressions of the same phenomenon--i.e. male homosexuality is "icky" and "wrong" because at least one of the males involved defiles his own dignity by allowing himself to be subjected to a "subordinate" role. Which in turn pertains to why the most common form of failure to support female rape victims is the "asking for it" insinuation, which contradictorily takes victim/subordinate status for granted (Look, you know you're a walking target by nature, so why didn't you take better precautions and resist more...?) while simultaneously denying the possibility of meaningful victimization (...And seeing how you chose not to, well, who can blame the guy?).

Hard to aim that one effectively at a little girl though; at least she "has the excuse" of being a child. As all children should. (Though unfortunately children by nature have even more difficulty than adults distinguishing "Something bad happened" from "I am bad," so their more readily accepted victim status works in their "favor" far less often than we'd like. Child molesters and pedophiles are secretive, and opportunities to put a stop to it on the order of what McQueary was handed are extraordinarily rare.)
Not appropriate.

Why is Yolland deciding what is appropriate on this forum?

Define Rape. Define Appropriate.

It is a forum dedicated to a great 'no holds barred' rock band. Why is it being overcome by anti-male sentiment? Not all men are rapists. Just so you know.

Because she's a moderator, and it has zero to do with "anti-male sentiment". Please. She thought your comments were inappropriate, so that's her right to say so. Diemen is the other main mod here and he's a guy. You could talk to her privately if you have questions, calling a post of hers inappropriate is hardly the way to go about that.

We all know that all men aren't rapists, thanks. No holds barred still has rules, you can see that there is a FAQ and other info about that.

Where is this "all men are rapists" sentiment?

First of all, I used 'no holds barred' to describe a great Irish rock band, not the rape discussion.

Second of all, Yolland did determine that my post inappropriate first. I only applied her words to her posts. It does pertain to the situation whether the incident was 'sexual assault' or 'rape'. Which we should discuss this first before we do a public castration.

Whether or not U2 is "no holds barred" the forum isn't, or isn't supposed to be. This forum actually allows quite a bit more than other forums I've seen and participated in.

Public castration? Seriously? Where are you getting that from?

I would publically ask Yolland to decipher at which point is something rape and which point is it sexual assault? Or is it all under the vague atmospherics of female victimhood?

That's quite delusional.

You of all people accusing others of generalizations is pretty ironic, on top of that I think you might really be lost in this discussion.
