I believe that Obama attracted many ill-informed voters to the polls. Now that's not to say that you dems in this forum are included in that group, so try not to get offended.
Wow, so you really are one of them...

Talk about deflecting, Palin was said to unite the base, but then look at the folks she attracted to her rallies, is this ya'lls base? The fact that you keep defending that "poll" makes me believe it is. Maybe you should read that poll again.

I started to probe a little bit further and she couldn't name one single policy issue that Obama has proposed. She said that Obama seemed genuine and looked nice and that the US needed a change from "old white boy's club". Although very smart in other areas, my mother-in-law is politically dumb. She doesn’t understand the political spectrum. She doesn’t understand or care much about the benefits of large/small government. She didn’t know or care about the social issues in the campaign. My mother-in-law would have responded to the poll in the exact same manner as the people in the video.
Would you like to hear my personal stories of folks that think Obama is a Muslim, he's going to turn this into a "black" country, etc... I mean come on, you sound more and more like the folks you are talking about.

What if there was a similar poll that read like this:

Did McCain lose a previous election in 2000 due to Rovian tactics which he is now employing himself?

Are you aware McCain's economic policies will make the rich richer and create more poor?

Is Obama a Muslim that pals around with unrepentant terrorist?

Would this poll show you anything?

Well, IF the exit polls were accurate, it looks like Obama won because of huge support among minorities. Obama failed to generate much support among white people except those 18-29 and lost by near landslide levels to white people 30 and older.

White 18-29(11% of all voters) McCain 44% Obama 54% Obama +10%

White 30-44(20% of all voters) McCain 57% Obama 41% McCain +16%

White 45-64(30% of all voters) McCain 56% Obama 42% McCain +14%

White 65+(13% of all voters) McCain 58% Obama 40% McCain +18%

Obama lost. Just keep telling yourself that. Maybe if we can get enough birth certificates and ranting preachers and get the colors fixed on the television sets of the U.S. so Obama will look just as dark as he is in real life then maybe people will see that we made the biggest mistake in electing a black, muslim, socialist, radical, terrorist president who is singlehandedly going to dismantle all businesses, big and small, give away free checks to those who don't work and tax the rich until they are just as penniless as the lower middle class. Not to mention he's going to make sure that we all get the same government run health care where people are going to have to wait at least 95 hours before a heart attack victim is seen!!!
Additionally, he's going to invite Hugo Chavez and the Castro brothers over for an evening of fine dining and dancing with all the Hollywood liberals.

What have we done??

MOVE ON CONSERVATIVES! There was a stock market crash, two unpopular wars, large deficit (No child left behind, Health care entitlements), 8 years of a Republican presidency, ignorance in the population over the role of Congress, and Hurricane Katrina. These are almost all insurmountable obstacles. It's amazing that McCain even got the votes he did.

Conservatives should be focusing on the House and Senate races and after taking Congress back they should look for a communicator for President. NO it shouldn't be Sarah Palin because she was part of the losing ticket. The president has to be able to communicate like a Reagan so no matter what the media does we can still win.

The race is over and McCain lost fair and square. Obama is talking about "experiments" and FDR so there will be plenty of ammunition to fire at the Democrats (especially in congress) to beat them again. Any idiot that thinks throwing tax dollars at failed companies and badly managed banks and printing money will save the economy must be ignoring Japan and Europe where those ideas failed miserably.

Sulking over stupid voters is a waste of time. You need to convince the dumb guys that it's in their interest to run their own lives. As long as they think government will be a panacea for their lives they'll keep voting the same way. Just look at Chavez and his useless economic programs. His programs are useless but people still vote for him because he has a cult of personality and he's on TV all day indoctrinating people with a marathon talk show of infinite bullying and potemkin village scenes to fool the populace that there's progress.

FRONTLINE: the hugo chavez show: watch the full program | PBS

It's up to people to look to themselves for making their lives meaningful and full of purpose and not some hypnotizing leader.

Obama believed he was an empty canvas that the voters could project on but next year he can't be that way anymore. Taking Congress back will force him to stay to the center on his policies.

And you can solidify the bloc by having Palin run in 2012

If we bicker amongst ourselves and nominate divisive leaders that the base doesn't like then you would be right.

Palin, Pawlenty, Jindal. I'm sure I'm leaving out some but yes. Palin is not as dumb as you guys think, she just can't handle "gotcha" media but she's an actual conservative and knows that market capitalism is about the individual and that governments can't magically wave a wand of prosperity. It's more like getting government out of the way and leaving it to what it does best. At least she talking about people leaving within their means. That's the one of the pillars to recovery that's ultra boring and doesn't make it to talking points much.

First off, if she represents "the base", i'm happy, there will be many democrat Presidential wins to come.

i think her problem goes far beyond not being a smart interview, it also goes to alienting the non-base by fuelling racism and hatred at her rallies. That kind of stuff turns off independents big-time.

As for "getting government out of the way", i didn't know they were IN the way, certainly I don't notice it, unless of course we're talking about bailouts, or getting in the way of Peace by starting needless irrational wars.

She may in fact be even dumber.

The woman lacks curiosity about the world around her. We already know what that looks like, it's called W. and it's about to finally end.

Yeah well I don't think conservatives should be trying to make Democrats happy because there will be many more Democrat victories to come. Bush was not that right wing as people make it. He increased the size of government more than anything Clinton did. You didn't notice government getting in the way yet but that's because the taxes haven't been raised to pay for the spending yet. What percentage of Americans actually pay tax nowadays?
