isn't that one of the seven deadly sins?

The conservative christians have thrown the old sins out the window, in fact gluttony, divorce, and the type of capitalism that steals from the poor are all things they've embraced now. No, the sins they concern themselves with now are being gay, being even 1% socialist(except medicaire), and accepting other religions.

I like the freedom of a diner food to serve food and the freedom for people to
go there or not.

The freedom is great.

It's great that somebody has the option to go buy a massive 3000 calorie burger. Sure. But many restaurants do this in a way where it's in no way promoting the sickening, negative aspects. Look at Chee-Burger Chee-Burger. Sure, you can eat the pounder if you'd like. But the restaurant isn't built around the attraction of getting fat and supporting such an idea.

That being said, it's immoral to promote somebody to celebrate in such a manner that degrades the quality of life.

Like I said before (jokingly), they should make the place 18+. Letting a kid go there is promoting all of the wrong values and building bad character. Hey kids! Unprotected sex feels better and STDs are great! *no sarcasm*

Freedom is pretty illusory anyway, we're bombarded with adverts which subtlety (on occasion fairly unsubtle) influence our thinking in what to buy or where to go. Plus money in itself is the true arbiter of freedom in this world.

Choice is one of the big buzz words, but when your earning minimum wage choice is pretty limited.

That had little to do with their attitude.

Just because you have the freedom to be stupid doesn't mean you have to celebrate it.

Question: if you have the freedom to be stupid, and celebrating being stupid is stupid, don't you have freedom to celebrate being stupid as well (since that is stupid and you have the freedom to be stupid?)?

So many hippie talking points, so few words

Cuts both ways. The long term effect of being bombarded with advertising is surely that it becomes almost redundant. Or so it seems to me, and admittedly I'm practically immune to advertising by virtue of having an incredibly short attention span.

Plus money in itself is the true arbiter of freedom in this world.

That is to some extent a choice, no? I'm not sure about our part of the world but there are communes, certainly in the US, where one can live on no income whatever. It would take some research to track one down, but they do exist.

I'm not sure advertising is ever going to become redundant, it works pretty well with our psychology, for instance say the closer the packaging of cigarettes are to white in colour the healthier people expect them or experience them to be even though they can be the exact same cigarette.

I guess it depends what you define freedom as, whether it's the ability to live outside governmental control outside of society living a relatively basic existence or the more limited freedoms of choosing to live in the modern world. I just don't know what freedom means anymore.

Choice can only be made when your fully informed of your options and what they entail, but we are so often misinformed whether by being stupid ourselves or deliberately by others. I am not against money or anything asinine as that, I certainly think better education has a got to have a bigger role to play, bah not sure where I'm going with this.

Apologies for the wooliness of my earlier comments, I was pretty tired at the time, but I am a hippy at heart:wink:

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A man suffered a heart attack at a restaurant known for glorifying bad eating habits. The 'Heart Attack Grill' lived up to its name Saturday night.

Amateur video of the man being wheeled out of the restaurant by EMTs was posted to several websites.

"He was having the sweats and shaking," said ‘Nurse' Bridgett, who was working at the restaurant when the man in his 40s began experiencing chest pains.

"Doctor" Jon Basso, who opened the infamous restaurant in October, told FOX5 at first he thought it was a joke.

"One of the nurses came back to me and said, ‘Dr. Jon, we've got a patient who's in trouble.'"

The restaurant is known for not holding back on the food it serves. The menu includes items like Flatliner Fries, and Bypass Burgers. A meal can easily exceed 8,000 calories.

The gentleman who suffered the heart attack was in the middle of eating a Triple Bypass burger when he began experiencing the symptoms.

Despite the clinical atmosphere, Basso is not actually a medical doctor, so he called 911. Paramedics and EMTs arrived in moments.

"The gentleman could barely talk," said Basso. "He was sweating, suffering. Anyone with an ounce of compassion would've felt for him."

Basso tells FOX5 he has heard the man is alive and recuperating. His name is still unknown.

The staff at the Heart Attack Grill willingly glorifies bad health. If you weigh over 350 pounds, you eat for free. And on Saturday night, Basso saw the other side.

"I actually felt horrible for the gentleman because the tourists were taking photos of him as if it were some type of stunt. Even with our own morbid sense of humor, we would never pull a stunt like that," he said.

Tourists were disheartened, but not entirely surprised to hear about the incident.

"I don't think I would walk into a place, even if it's called the Heart Attack Grill, and order food, and expect that I was going to have a heart attack," said Las Vegas resident Debbie Kaye.

Customers, however, continued eating the burgers, fries, and shakes Tuesday night.

"It says right on the door, it's hazardous to your health," diner CJ Beeman pointed out.

Well at least the guy didn't die...

How funny and cute that Doctor Basso and Nurse Bridgett have quotes " " in Doctor and Nurse. :cute:

I'd be struggling not to grab people's phones from them and smash them on the ground at that point.
