I just had a cup of coffee with a jelly doughnut (one of the two major holiday foods) and tonight we're going to light the Menorah in my office and sing songs.

I love this holiday - its one that EVERYONE can enjoy, both young and old, Jewish and non-Jewish.

I was actually back in my hometown in Mississippi through the start of the holiday...had a great time (and if I'd been following the weather reports closely enough to know what we'd be driving home to, I woulda stayed a few more days too! ) Last night we made bimuelos--basically the Sephardic equivalent of AchtungBono's jelly donut; bite-sized fritters in a honey, cinnamon and orange flower water syrup--with our hosts. We let them do the rest of the cooking though, lol.

Just barely made it home in time to light candles tonight as the roads were worse than expected--I feel so sorry for all those holiday travelers stuck in airports right now...
