I should have put them first as in the end i got more than what they wanted. I didnt go for London uni's as it was to expensive and my hometown is only 250k in people so London was too big a step. Warwick was to close to home and being from the Midlands i needed a change as in general all the midlands looks the same.
I covered all kinds of stuff - but i am a modernist
studied 20th century Spain, 18th to 20th century russia, European involvement in the middle east and india (best topic i did)
Historians and race
Diaspora and Identity
Dissertation on Gandhi
i actually covered loads but to be fair i dont remember all that much now
It was either history or geography as i did both at A Level and enjoyed both equally. It was a case of tossing a coin and making a choice. Only St Andrews did both but that was too far and seems a bit of a dump.

Doing a masters in Records Management now - the job sounds more interesting than it is but the course is a killer. Everything is so over the top and they make it into a life and death situation. Its not as important as they make it out to be and i cant stand any more theory.
I'm only doing it as i HAVE to do something lol I want a cushy job where i can get away with doing the minimum and just chill

What subject you doing at uni?

I think all this makes me an unusual candidate to be a hardcore Oasis fan but i'll be there in June in Manchester - its my pilgrimage to Heaton Park
Same here with Bristol actually... I applied, but haven't even considered going given the offer. York sounds amazing, my best friend's going... and probably doesn't care about the night life too much if she's as uncool as me.
You're from the midlands? Well, ditto that, I'm from Shropshire.
I'd have covered the complete opposite end of history if I'd have done it Haha st. andrews a dump... didn't one of the Princes go?!

Good luck with your masters, after the amount of studying you've done I can see why you'd be desperate to get into a 9-5.

I'm doing Russian studies, both language and history.

And I'm jealous you got Oasis tickets Because I didn't As much as it kills me to say it... have fun

^ I hope anji didn't see that last bit

I know it may be risky but put bristol as first choice and manchester as second - you could do better than your predicted grades

York wanted AAB so there was not much difference between the two - But in the end i got 4 A's. In History, geog, Sociology and Gov + Politics

My russian lecturer was from Bristol and spoke fluent russian but with a somerset accent at times which was quite funny

What you are doing sounds great - i'd love to vist russia and see Moscow and St Petersburg - so much to see

Hope it all goes well

By the way shropshire is pretty close to me - been to Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury many times
and ofcourse the Ironbridge

I debated doing that, but then I visited Bristol - and didn't like the preppy vibe going on. Love it down south, don't like southern students though. Up north's where it's at!

You took 4 a levels? Or was one of those as? That's pretty damn impressive... I'd be amazed if I got one A! Based on being far too lazy for coursework and never actually attending college.

Haha that's cool, and yeah I won't know which to pick for my year abroad - St. Petersburg or Moscow.

Cheers

Where abouts are you from in the Midlands? As luck would have it, I live in Shrewsbury Although it's nothing to boast about.

Hell yes And she's about to be played by Lindsay Duncan on the bbc, and I've met Lindsay Duncan

I'm jealous! I think the gallagher brothers are hilarious, but I can totally see why people wouldn't be huge fans... not of their music, though. If you're British and don't like Oasis then you're not really British

She was in a play in London I went to see, and that same afternoon I literally bumped into her in Leicester Square ... and as I was holding the play programme (which was embarrising) she offered to sign it. Was so posh and tall and lovely
Wow, you remember that! I don't think I've mentioned that on here in ages! Susan.

*runs off to brag a bit more*
