Freak Waves - Danger to shipping industry? *VIDEOS*

This is a topic that is of much interest to me that most people dont know about, or dont give a shit about

imagine being on this ship:

Waves that happen in the mid-ocean that come out of nowhere that can be over 100 ft tall. Here is part 1 of a 5 part series on these waves:

pretty interesting stuff. seems to be a pretty big threat to shipping, as they are pretty common as it turns out. i've seen a couple recent stories of big ships being sunk or severely damaged due to this.

if you've ever heard of / watched the show deadliest catch. this is the only known footage of one of these waves. scary stuff.

YouTube - Rogue Wave Full Version XVID

hopefully these videos work. im at work so i cant watch them.

this has been around since men first built sea-faring vessels

these waves are probably the basis for many 'sea monster' stories

I think we should pull out the drain stopper!

I did enjoy watching those videos though. I got to feel geeky and forget that my day sucked. Thanks!
