The news accidentally (I assume it was accidental. No warning or even a mention of it) ran footage of a guy in a wheelchair with gruesome injuries to his legs. Horrific

I saw that, the foot was gone.

I suppose a warning is warranted.

If I was him, I could not care less about being on TV at that point

I'll spoiler this in case anyone is squeamish

It looked like both his legs were missing from just below the knee. His lower left leg was definitely missing, but for nearly the entire length of his tibia which was completely exposed. Really horrible. No idea how the guy was still conscious

There are reports on local news
of several people with lost limbs, some having lost both legs, one victim as young as 3
the kind of thing that tickles Mikal's funny bone apparently.

I've found the only thing I can do at times like these is look to the first responders and find some hope in their bravery, selflessness, and professionalism.

Yep. I know someone that immediately helped people out today. Very proud of her.

Nothing the news does is accidental.

And thank you for spoilering whatever it was you spoilered.

It looked like they were just running a stock loop. I haven't seen it again since the first time. It's also the CBC; they're not really that sort of news channel.

And you're welcome

Patton Oswalt (at least it was attributed to him in a friend's facebook post. I didn't look into it or share it) made a great statement about this very thing

CNN debating Obama not using the word terror is calculated. One bad piece of B-roll making it in is likely just an oversight from the chaos.

Plus, the frame was busy enough that it wasn't immediately apparent. I actually thought what I was seeing must've been at bit of an optical illusion at first; it wasn't

This is my favourite bit of misinformation so far (paraphrased):

Idiot Reporter: "You said you were trained by Israeli trauma specialists. Can you elabourate on that?"

Surgeon: ".... I was not trained by Israeli trauma specialists....."

CNN reports that authorities are on the lookout for a dark skinned man with a foreign accent. Wow.

again, to find the responsible party I don't care about some government intrusion into privacy

we are already giving up portions of our liberty for some security
I would rather give up some privacy

Appears at least one of the devices was made with a pressure cooker located inside a backpack... similar to what is often used in Iraq and Afghanistan. Obviously doesn't mean anything as far as who did it, because I'm sure if you looked hard enough you could locate directions to anything on the internet... But yea. At least some level of sophistication involved in the bomb making.
