And it's not even the National Anthem...it's GBA. Anybody stops me from going to the can when I have to, I'm whipping it out where I stand and pissing on the guy, then he can sue me.
I just went there, I lurk there from time to time (But ew I went to the Yankees forum there and the Yankees web site in the same day, I need a shower). GBA became important, as the Times article states, after 9/11. From that angle I understand and respect it , considering it is NYC and how that impacted them.

I always respect GBA and the anthem during games and I try to time my bathroom breaks accordingly. I don't drink anyway and I usually go without liquids because A. I don't want to miss any of the game B. The bathrooms are so disgusting. I try to go after BP, before I go back to my seat and that's it-hopefully.

The guy doesn't seem completely credible, but I do wonder about that policy and how fairly it is enforced. If they don't hassle anyone who doesn't hassle them well I think that's fair-as long as they allow for emergencies. Like MI said they are a private entity. And people are aware of the policy and can plan accordingly, I imagine.

Actually no, you cannot use cops to prohibit rights like going to the bathroom.

I understand the idea of tradition, but God Bless America is not a time honored tradition like the SSB, in fact I don't think I've ever even seen it at a sporting event.

NY baseball fan settles 'God Bless America' suit

July 7, 2009

NEW YORK --A baseball fan who says he was kicked out of a Yankees game because he left his seat during "God Bless America" has settled a lawsuit against New York City and the team.

The city did not admit liability and will give Bradford Campeau-Laurion of Queens about $10,000. It will also pay $12,000 in fees to the New York Civil Liberties Union.

A Yankees spokeswoman says the team will pay nothing and change no policies. The team says in settlement papers that fans at its new stadium are allowed to move freely during the song.

Ushers at the old stadium sometimes blocked exits with chains during the song. But the team said they were instructed to let through anyone with an emergency.

I think the story is nuts.

I'd rather serve my bladder than the state.

I think the vast majority of the wonderful tea partiers would agree.

Or me, who is none of the above and can hold it just fine for 8+ hours but would get up and go then because I wouldn't have to wait in a line

And if BVS is really dying for rational answers...
1. This story is virtually unknown.
2. It is no threat to keeping you in your job.
3. There is a fine line between patriotism and jingoism.

I think the lines and conditions of most bathrooms are far more deplorable than people actually wanting to use them.

Yeah, but...

The people who use them make up the lines, and some of them leave the bathrooms in a deplorable condition.

Also known as kids (who would be the ones having to pee during said song).

It looks like this story has an open conclusion.

The police accused him of being piss drunk and foul-mouthed.

He claimed he only had two beers.

Quote:
The NYPD told CBS 2 a different version of the story, however, saying in a statement:

"The officers observed a male standing on his seat, cursing, using inappropriate language and acting in a disorderly manner while reeking of alcohol, and decided to eject him rather than subject others to his offensive behavior."
Quote:
Campeau-Laurion says he did have two beers at the game. He doesn't know if he'll seek legal action, but he's discussing his options with the NYCLU.

He is American, so in the end both accounts work out to mean the same.
