The most honest answer is it entirely depends on how hot you are.

I couldn't edit my post...

but it's a figurative 'you' and it pertains to both sides.
If you look like Brad Pitt or George Clooney, then maybe your window is as small as you want it to be. If you're like me and you look like Seth Rogen, then you have to leave that window extended relative to how hot she is and you're not.

To sum, it's relative to how easy you think it should be.

A lot of it...

But the "most men expect sex within 5 dates" and "well it depends on how hot you are" part in particular.

I think Irvine is right, the "how hot you are" was a joke.

As for most men expecting sex within 5 dates, well my experience has shown me that too. Maybe you're the minority, BVS. Any woman who likes to take her time with relationships and not rush in would be glad to have you.

If it was purely a joke then I'm relieved, but his explanation made it sound like he was only half joking. For I do know people that believe that line of thinking.

As for that being your experience as well, then I am truly sorry.

But I know that I'm not that rare, there are others.

Couldn't be bothered re-reading the thread but I can't actually recall anyone saying this.

I think this is the comment that BVS was referencing.

FTR, I was certainly being facetious.

So there was some sarcasm buried in there, "half-joking" might have been accurate but definitely insincere.

Firstly, what I had said was in response to a question posed, where Mad1 asked whether most men would likely move on if there was no physical after 5 dates and I indicated that probably that would be the case. Now I had initially read "any physical" as literally "any physical", as in, any touchy-feely and not necessarily anything sexual.

As I said I took this interpretation, but upon re-reading, yes, your interpretation is probably more likely to be correct. "Getting physical" would probably more generally be deemed a euphemism for sex. But then you went off a rant for some reason even after I pointed out that I had taken a different interpretation. But I don't know, perhaps Maddie can explain what she originally meant.

Then statements like this, which, fair enough, I realise was in jest:

...but if, say, I was joshing with Diamond or someone and went "bring me a hot young chick, but not a skanky ho", you be the first to complain. (And, actually, I'd be pretty unlikely to say such a thing, even in jest).

Just try and accept that males have feelings too, is what I'm trying to explain. 'Cos I could be wrong but I occasionally the vibe from your posts that you seem to think we don't.

Seriously? It wasn't personalized at all, so maybe you should just chill out. Honestly I was posting to Mad 1, not to you at all. So it was a GENERAL statement, not directed at you at all but if you choose to make it that way as a way to start off your "rant", so be it I suppose. It's not "passive aggressive" either, that's your interpretation for whatever reasons. Not a "rant" either. I am well aware that males have feelings, don't need that lecture from you. Don't really care what "vibe" you get either. The fact is that many younger 20 something males are stuck in that frat boy phase-I had a bad experience with a drunk one recently who thought it was ok to touch me without my permission, drunk or not that's not ok with me. I wondered what the appeal was of "cougar" at that point-of course I AM WELL AWARE THAT THEY'RE NOT ALL LIKE THAT and I've been lucky enough to experience that too.

You can put me on ignore if my posts bother you that much-frankly your armchair analysis of mine bothers me. You've made plenty of posts here that bother me, but I choose not to get all riled up over them. Life's too short.

I really have not the slightest clue of what you are trying to elucidate here. If you were drinking in bar and were harassed, then that's unacceptable and clearly you should report it to the relevant authorities. If, in the other hand, you identify as a 'cougar' and scored with a 20-something male (and I'm not very familar with the term 'cougar', it's an Americanism that has crossed the Atlantic only quite recently) then surely that's a success?
