What is it?

You don't get?

That some people are tired of big government intrusion.

I am in awe at how some members here are so willing
to bow down to a all intrusive central government.

I'll ask one more time.

Where is the government intruding into your life?

The answers you have given so far are false or flat out lies.

So I want a real example of how the government has intruded into your life.

you have to play by their rules and live by their system. if you wanted to pack up right not and just go off and live off the land (or even better, build your own community!!!) and live a 100% free life, if would be extremely difficult, if not impossible.

you have no choice in the matter. in most cases you have to spend most of your life working for someone else that's only out to make more money (which we made up) for themselves just to get by. and hopefully you wont get out of line and break one of the thousands of laws they also made up (especially the ones that prohibit you from making your own personal choices that harm no one else) or else you'll spend some time in the correctional institutions they made for you, and when you get out you'll have and even harder time living in their "system", but you have no choice because leaving would break your parole.

of course if you are happy living in the "system" then you dont think it's an intrusion.

just thinking outside the :reject:, not saying i wanna go jeremiah johnson it up in the mountains.

thanks
I do remember all that was possible before the 2008 election of Barack Hussein Obama.

God damn it! I want my cunt-tree back!

Maybe you could elaborate more on the prohibitions from living off the land? I'm not real familiar with those. I mean the obvious--and reasonable--prohibitions against trespassing. I was thinking more about the prohibitions against living off the land on your own property.

And, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you employed by the "system?"

:)

Oh, so this is what libertarians want? They want to go back to the day before the white man came.

I got it now.

@deep:

typical knee-jerk liberal reaction.

i have a thought that is outside your realm of comprehension, so i am automatically a racist right? even though nothing i said has anything to do with obama.

you are allowed to think beyond your personal opinions, right?

Sure. It's fine by me. I ain't mad at ya. :)

So you're just playing devil's advocate then, throwing out a possible stance. So please don't take offense when I point out that particular stance is pretty lame and at least so far, unsupportable.

Perhaps you'd like to throw out some hypothetical support for that stance?

Or not.

I'm cool either way. ;)

what if you dont have any property, or dont have the means to buy some?

is there any land in the US that isn't owned? if you mean trespassing on the land that government owns that is just miles and miles of wilderness and they dont use it at all, just own it, and you cant "trespass" on it, then isnt that just another control to keep you in the "system"? and if you try to go to another country, you would be breaking their immigration laws, unless you play by their rules.

then there's the matter of hunting licenses, fishing licenses, and farming permits and the regulations that go with them.

and im pretty sure if you do own property, even if it's out in the middle of nowhere, you cant just be left alone, you most likely have to pay tax on it, meaning you MUST work to get the fake money to pay it.

remember, im just playing devil's advocate here, not really my personal opinions or desires

edit: yeah maycocksean you beat me to it

not if im wearing the special hat i made

make sure you are wearing it right

Is there any land anywhere in the world that isn't "owned"? Your devil is not the sharpest demon in the bunch--he's essentially advocating something pretty close to anarchy. Which probably isn't going to draw much support from 99% of the population.

Iron Horse suggested that the Big Government is intruding on our lives in increasingly disturbing ways. The argument that anarchy is a better alternative isn't exactly the strongest argument in support of that premise.

Iron Horse and his "libertarian" pals are arguing, quite suddenly, that somehow "big government" is intruding into their personal lives. They don't give a shit about living off the land, or anything like that. They're concerned about the colored president and his Muslim buddies somehow instituting a fascist/socialist system in the United States. They can't name any specifics, but they're scared, dammit.

im not saying it should be the solution for 100% of the population.

the question was "how is the government intruding on your life?"

my answer is if someone wanted to (and im sure there are a few people that would if they could) live completely on their own free of government regulation, that it would be extremely hard if not impossible, and therefore would be an intrusion on their life.

so i was just answering the question, not providing a solution.

Well someone might think the government has implanted a chip in his teeth and is controllng his mind. For him, the government is VERY intrusive.

I'm more interested in regular people, not the tiny percentage of people with unreasonable expecations or misunderstandings of reality.

fuck, well im stumped then.

wait i got it!!!!

every prohibitive drug, prostitution, and gambling law!!!

also, making a law forcing you to have healthcare (since our healthcare system in this country is fucked).

bingo

The Founding Fathers partook in all three, along with dueling

they would be criminals in their own country, if they were here today!

Given that the GOP had de facto control with only 41 senators, as the Democratic Party stands for nothing, it'll be business as usual.
oh please

stop being so general about the Democratic Party. Yes right now too many are not being agressive enough. a bunch need a need a fire lit under their butts. which life forbid might happen as kw1 suggested.

 how appropo "Panic Switch" just came on the radio.:D

there are some seriously good ( not perfcet) Democratic Senators and Reperesentitives. :|

anitram and BVS hit the nail on the head. I don't know when our society decided being intelligent was some sort of evil, bad thing, but it's way past time to change that.

The USA has had i don't know if you'd call them cycles or not of streams"anti-intellectural" fevor!

I don't know when it started. I do remember there was a Party callled The Know Nothings . really!
It would seem to indicate an anti-interlectural stance, but not sure.

It sort of links up with the rugged individual type " i did this all myslef" a type libertatiran? so why can't everyone else. They then ignore all manner of uneven playing fields.

Oh, so this is what libertarians want? They want to go back to the day before the white man came.

i've heard pretty funny and i think pretty acurate quote:

"Libertairians are Republicans who want to smoke dope and have sex"

most of them don't really believe in "the Commons" what we share and crerate through taxes on big things and good oversight that we couldn't do on our own : roads, bridges, tunnels, public transpertation; proper insepection of our food & water supply; worker safety, and other labor laws < hey , like being able to having a weekend?> ;drugs that are safe & work, etc :the general welfare of the people.

When certain people bitch about how bad the government is ( it's not perfect) ...often you can find Republicans who staff the various Goverment Agencies with people who hate governemnt then HOW is it going to work properly.

And when you pass laws and then DON'T fund them with enough people to do the proper job of course it's going to go down hill!

Most Republican politicians ( and some conservarive Democrats, and a sizable amount of active Republican voters all they care about are --well, thier "Commons" would mostly be rich, white people and everyone else to hell with them.

This is true, definitely. I just don't really get why that is. I don't get why people willingly pride themselves on being ignorant.

In short, we need our own "Enlightenment" period.

I'm pretty sure if you went out to some remote place and started a little farm, and lived off the land - ate your own crops, livestock, etc etc, no one from the government would bother you. Why would they? There would be no gain in it.

If you want to start a farm and sell your goods, it's not the government that's gonna run you out, it's the industrial farm's lawyers that are gonna get you.

When you're a moron, "pride" is hard to come by, they probably don't know what it is, so instead of feeling good about themselves, they hate on others. To the ignorant, it's the same thing.
