2 and 3 are so closely related that they are essentially saying the same thing.

that the acsension and ressurection didn't really happen-that Christ was only a great moral teacher only etc.

this is one of satan's favorite strategies.

no sale-they both happened.

I voted the first option. Acts 1:4-11, to me, points to a physical ascension.

That said, I don't think people who voted for the third option are all "godless" or voting for Satan (spoken like a true Right Winger, diamond!)

While I don't agree with it, I think people can believe in a physical resurrection and not a physical ascension, and still consider themselves Christian. I disagree with it, but I don't see it as a matter to get tripped up on in the grand scheme of things. Now a bodily resurrection? Yes. Can't budge there.

So, again, it's kind of a flawed poll if you're trying to figure out how many "godless" FYMers there are.

Do you think for yourself at all? Honest question.

How did you gather this?

No, it's not. I played Satan online once, and he rushed me.

I didn't fight with him. Right after my birth we shared our first beer.

I'm amazed that people can't pick up irony with a wink thrown in.

Yeah, I'm going to go for the (non existent) 'I don't know' option, with perhaps a smattering of 'no, it's meant to be figurative' thrown in. And also with perhaps a hint of 'myth does not equal 'lie'' as well. Remember, every age writes its stories with what it has available, and teasing out the truth (not in a journalistic sense) is not as simple as it seems.

No, mostly 'I don't know'. That's both the PC answer, and at this current moment, my honest position.

The interesting thing about Jesus is that he was real enough, he's there in the records; this was the era of Roman occupation after all. It's the nature of Jesus that's a little hazy.

Overwhelming godlessness according to the poll.

One might say people are finally seeing the light, or lack of one, depending on how one sways.....

I am a little disturbed by the number of people who make it into a pointless fabrication.

From a literary point of view, I found the ascension the least interesting part of the Christ story. However, since it did complete a pattern of Old Testament ascensions, it was not a pointless literary or mythic device--so my bad. I just get bored with ascensions--real or figurative. The human part of the story intrigued me, not the divine. I guess, though, it is an integral part of the divinity. I stand corrected.

I think the 'pointless' gets lost a bit as people may focus on the 'fabrication' part.

it is definitely a fabrication, but there is a point to it, albeit not a terribly altruistic one.
