That is crazy apparently the parents didn't feel the need to lock up the guns from the kids. Whether or not the were taught gun safety is besides the point the fact that a 10yr old was able to get the gun is insane.

lock up the gun
and leave the 4 year old defenseless

he was in the bathroom and had the door closed
his two year old sister was trying to force her way in, (how did he know it was not a 6 or 8 year old with a stick or something)
she had it coming!!

there is a reason they call it the 'terrible twos' .

Well, I've "met" him, I've never really met him.

That being said.......I certainly assumed it was intentional, but we're talking blood here. Deep claims it was unintentional, but I am unconvinced.

Since I put this out there.

I should fess up.

I think it was Sunday after church.

I am 7 years older. I was probably around 14 or so.

I had a Daisy BB air rifle, we lived in the City and could not shoot real guns.

I am sure I murdered a few sparrows.

Anyways I told said little brother to sit on the sofa. I handed him a shoe box and told him to hold it in front of his head so I could shoot him.

He did.
I did.
The shoe box was empty. The BB went right through.
He had a big red welt on his cheek bone.
If it had been a little higher I may have put his eye out. ( The Christmas Story ).

5 die in gym shooting near Pittsburgh

* Story Highlights
* NEW: Witness says shooter targeted Latin dance class
* Shooting at LA Fitness gym leaves as many as 15 hurt
* Shooter reportedly among the dead

(CNN) -- A shooting at an LA Fitness gym outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, killed five people and wounded as many as 15 on Tuesday, a local official said.

The shooter is among the fatalities, said Gary Vituccio, manager of Collier Township.

Allegheny General Hospital reported receiving two wounded patients at its trauma center, Mercy Hospital had six and St. Clair had one. No other details were immediately available.

Perry Calabro of nearby Bridgeville said he was between racquetball games at the gym when he suddenly heard screaming and multiple gunshots. He said he ran out and didn't see the gunman or others.

Witnesses told CNN affiliate WTAE that a man unrecognized by the gym's staff shot people in a Latin dance class.

A witness identified as Nicole told WTAE that about 30 women were in the class when "a middle-aged white male walked into the class. He had a big gym bag."

"He looked out of place in a class full of women," according to the witness, who told WTAE the man put down the bag, turned off the lights and opened fire.

it's clear that the gunman would have found a way to kill those 5 people with knives or sticks or rocks.

if the 50 women in the Latin dance class were exercising their right to bear arms the killer would never have been able to pull that off.

I bet most of them were packin' cell phones, texting won't stop a killer

i saw this story on aol.com this morning, said "gunman kills 5, self at LA Fitness center". i didnt look at it and it said nothing about being in Pittsburgh, but i had a weird thought that it was in my hometown, also outside of Pittsburgh, which just opened a LA Fitness. then i saw it on here saying "5 die in gym shooting outside Pittsburgh" and i was thinking holy shit. some of my former co-workers go there. but it's not the same town. but still.... damn.

From the NY Times:

Quote:
The man who opened fire in a busy fitness center Tuesday evening, killing three women before committing suicide, had planned the attack for months because of frustration over his inability to find a girlfriend, according to a diary he kept online.

...

In the diary, Mr. Sodini said that he had not had a girlfriend since 1984, and had not had sex since July 1990, when he was 29.

“I actually look good,” Mr. Sodini wrote. “I dress good, am clean-shaven, bathe, touch of cologne — yet 30 million women rejected me — over an 18 or 25-year period. That is how I see it. Thirty million is my rough guesstimate of how many desirable single women there are.

“A man needs a woman for confidence. He gets a boost on the job, career, with other men, and everywhere else when he knows inside he has someone to spend the night with and who is also a friend.”
