Patrick u217 has probably got it correct. that what i had when i was picking it out

erm A/G is like playing the Achord with the Gbass note throwin in and same with the A/F# with F# being the bass note. Thats primarily the beginning of the song with the little pull on and offs on the A chord so it would be:

A/G A/F#
................ .................
........2...... .........2.....
........2...... .........2.....
........2...... .........2.....
................ .................
........3...... .........2......

Numbers = frets

hope this helps you

F#m is a barre on the 2nd fret and put you ring and pinky fingers on the A-string and D-string of the4th fret. E is your 1st finger on the G-string ( haha) of the 1st fret and middle finger and ring finger on A-string and D-string on the 2nd fret/. If you go to www.chordguide.com ( or something like that) it has all the basic chords

it's pretty hard for me to barre the 2nd fret. what i do instead is put my index finger on the G string, my middle finger on the B string, and hammer with the pinky. then i play a G with my ring finger for the 2nd chord. Then for the F# chord, i play an F# with my index on the low E.

Newtshoe said:
isn't there an E right on the ALONE part.

ie)
_______________E
Don't have to go it alone

I don't think there's an E on that part. I don't hear it anyway and watching the dvd performance i dont see edge playing it.

There's a F#M on KNOW and then D on ALONE

Could anybody type the tabs of "I know that we don't talk..." part and the rest of the song. Edge does it with a slide but I don't know the tabs.

Thank you

The PatrickU217 is the correct version. But i think the Dmaj7 in the verse is D only, not maj7.

Just got the album thought I'd post how I'd tab this tune. Definately one of Bono's best. I see a lot of posts using a Dmaj7 but I don't hear that on the disk. I'm a newbie here so feel free to lay into me ;)

A - G/A - F#/A - D NOTE: Hold the A chord but drop the tonic to G and then F# I use my thumb for this

A G/A
Tough, you think you've got the stuff
F#/A D
You're telling me and anyone
A
You're hard enough
A
You don't have to put up a fight
G/A
You don't have to always be right
F#/A D
Let me take some of the punches
A
For you tonight

D
Listen to me now
A
I need to let you know
F#m D
You don't have to go it alone

F#m E
And it's you when I look in the mirror
D
And it's you when I don't pick up the phone
F#m E D
Sometimes you can't make it on your own

We fight all the time
You and I...that's alright
We're the same soul
I don't need...I don't need to hear you say
That if we weren't so alike
You'd like me a whole lot more

Listen to me now
I need to let you know
You don't have to go it alone
And it's you when I look in the mirror
And it's you when I don't pick up the phone
Sometimes you can't make it on your own

F - C - Dm
F - C -
I know that we don't talk
Am F - C
I'm sick of it all

Dm
Can - you - hear - me - when - I -
A F#m
Sing, you're the reason I sing
D E A
You're the reason why the opera is in me...

D
Well hey now!
A
I've still got to let you know
F#m D
A house still doesn't make a home
A
Don't leave me here alone...

And it's you when I look in the mirror
And it's you that makes it hard to let go
Sometimes you can't make it on your own
Sometimes you can't make it
The best you can do is to fake it
Sometimes you can't make it on your own

hey mingus, fan of charles mingus?

btw, I'd abbreviate your chords like this:

A/G
meaning it's an A chord with a G note in the bass.

G/A
means a G chord with an A note in the bass.

but I knew what you meant.
