Due to requests - Here is the repost of my band’s demo CD. Please keep in mind that these are unfinished, there was more we wanted to do with the tracks, but we had limited funds and studio time. Quick rundown of the songs:

1. Come Fighting: basic rock and roll song. If/when we get the record contract; it’ll probably be a single.

2. Better Be Quick: Basically a vibe. A conversation in a club.

3. Blue: Throwaway track. Favorite guitar solo on any of the songs. Would be a great B-side.

4. Stay Above The Water: The ‘Coldplay Song’. Get out yer lighters! Possibly a single.

5. There For Everyone To See: Anthem song. I like the guitar on this one as well. Single.

6. Tuesday: One of my favorites that we’ve written. Important track for us. Single.

7. Going To The Top: Big closer. Song to play at Glastonbury, raise yer fists in the air, hit the guy next to you in the face! Or not…

Would love to hear your constructive comments (the nasty private message comments I got last time around, I could do without)

Let me tell you that i have a band too, but we're still doing covers and all that stuff. How did you get to a studio??? the songs sound fantastic. Well, i recently got a mixer, so i was planning to record my band in the computer, hehe, do you think that the quality will sound too bad?

Azor,

The home recording is good but, in my experience, you have to really know the software you’re using and you have to really know how to mix.

I’m not sure where you live, but in NY there’s a gazillion studios to go to. I was lucky enough that I met an engineer through a friend of a friend. This guy’s worked with a lot of signed artists so he knows what he’s doing. I gave him a listen to the original demo which I recorded at home and was me playing all the instruments, vocals, etc. (I used these tracks to give to the band so they could learn the songs and then put their imprint on the parts, etc.) He liked the tunes and wanted to work with us. He also knew that money and time were issues, we didn’t have a lot of money (rather, I didn’t have a lot of $$$) and to get everyone in the same room is a pain in the ass!

We recorded the drums in a studio here in the city playing alongside a rough guitar track that was me playing. The new recorded all the other guitars, bass and vox at this guy’s home studio in his apartment in mid town.

Because the engineer, Pat, know what he’s doing, somehow he managed to make us sound really good. He was also really good at listening to our ideas and translating what he were hearing in our heads onto the song. There’s still so much work that needs to be done on the those tracks. I think maybe only one of them I’d feel confident sending out to someone for air play, but I think for the time and money we had, they sound really good.

So, just look around for a studio, but make sure that who ever is going to be sitting behind the board and mixing your stuff, knows where you’re coming from and it’s someone you can communicate with. Very important!

Good luck and definitely post some stuff on here when you get it recorded!

What a experience! Thank's for the recommendations, I'll try to always remember that. I was also trying to do the same thing you did, to record myself (in the guitar, vocals, etc.) If I finish something, I'll post it to know what you think about it :) :der: :hmm:
