maple vs rosewood

what's the difference? I'm buying my first electric guitar soon, a Fender Strat not unlike Mr. Evans...which one does he have? thanks everyone

Edge has maple on most of his Fender guitars -- it has a brighter tone than rosewood, and looks cooler imo.

Maple for me too. To me, the rosewood necks seem to steal from the sound. Hope that dont sound too mad. And as discotech says.........looks cooler too, which is reason enuff to buy!

I couldn't hear the difference if I tried. But ever since under a bloodred sky I am partial to maple. It just looks way cooler on a strat or a tele.

you can hear the difference on bass guitars more noticeably i think. all of Adam's basses on Vertigo had maple necks, they're brighter and punchier than rosewood.

for me it's more the feel of the maple neck i like the most over the rosewood. not as much the sound, although the sound is better too.
