what were you using to check the key?
how doy ou check the key? figure out all the notes and mathematically deduct what key it is? i heard that usually the first note played in the chorus is usually the key?

COBL-Eb played in A flat
vertigo-Standard tuning E
Electric co-Eb
An cat Dubh-Eb
into the heart-Eb
B-day Standard tuning
NYD-Eb
miracle drug-Standard tuning
Sometimes-Standard tuning
LAPOE-Standard tuning
Sunday-tuned down 2 to A
Bullet-Eb
Running-Eb
zoo Staion-Eb
the fly-Eb
Elevation-Standard tuning
pride-tuned down 2 to A
Streets-Standard tuning
One-Eb
All beacause-Standard tuning
Yehweh-Standard tuning C G Em F
40-Eb

they tune it down so its easier on bonos voice
on certain songs
look at it like this you sing a song in E its a bit to high you
take it down to E flat get the tuner out and tune the guitar
down 1 from standard tuning to Eb

above just means its down one->Eb
sum are tuned down 2 ->sunday
zoo station is still in A
Running still in D
city still in A
streets standard D
and so on

hope that helps you understand

it sounds to me that from this forum, that the majority of u2 songs were on record in key of E, but now performed a semi-tone down.

i always thought u2 favored the key of D, expecially on JT (streets, woww)

Is it not more to do with the tuning of the guitar to suit the singing. Edge used to play SHFWALF live in C to look at. But that could be because it was easier to play tuned to C

ISHFWILF is actually the key of A.

Desire is key of A

SBS is now played in C (guitars tuned down)

On the record ISHFWILF is in D, tuned down a half step.

Desire in E actually and always has been. It's probably tuned down a semi-tone live, most of the older stuff is. SBS was orginally in Bm but was played in G#m on the last tour and I think they are doing it in the same key on this tour.

The easiest way to find the key of the song is to identify the note or chord that the song sounds naturally finished on (it usually finishes on the chord/note of the key it's in but occassionally it doesn't - giving the listener a somewhat "incomplete" sounding ending).

And Desire is in E not A or D!!
