In most tabs, I find b for "bend" and / for "slide" (which are obvious).

However, I also see h for "hammer on" and p for "pull off"...

I've been playing for a while but never really knew what they meant. I'd usually play what I thought was right... (I might have been doing them all along without knowing it) But I'm still curious.

So.. what do they mean, exactly and how do I do them?

Help?

Hammer On:
ex. 5h6

while holding down the string at the 5th fret and striking it, immediately push on the 6th fret (same string) with another finger.

Pull Off
ex. 6p5

hold down same string at 5th and 6th fret. strike it, then pull your finger off the 6th fret.

There are some websites that have little movie clips demonstrating this probably better than I'm explaining it. LOL

No that's a perfect explanation!

I've definitely been doing them for quite a while without knowing ;)

It's really basic...

Thanks
