Hey all!

What are your fav U2 intruments?

Mine would have to be Bono's black Gibson ES-175's and Edge's Goldtop and Casino

Chris

Oh, my God!
My list is long enough to fill a toilet roll!
My favorites changes periodically. Currently I'm drooling over the rickenbacker 330/12 and the english Vox AC30:drool:. Previously it was the Custom LP and the Line6 Pod Pro (which I've bought last month). I would like to buy even a midi pedalboard/switcher system, but Edge's beautiful Skydstrup is too much for me, the one from VooDoo Lab would make me very happy.

oh yer, i forgot the ric 330. the fireglow one though, not the mapleglow :p

Gibson explorer. Period.

Oh and in Adam's case, It was the Warwick Buzzard, but now it's tied with the shiny sparkly Purple Precision. Since I play precision myself I love the bass, and that colour is awesome!

Everything !

But if pressed...

  • Adam's Warwick Stryker (Although the purple sparkle Precision is a close 2nd)
  • Bono's Gretsch Chet Atkins (The red one that he used during Popmart and that The Edge used in the night and day video)
  • Edge's charcoal Fender 'Clapton' model Stratocaster (with the snake and skeleton painted on it. The one he played "Desire" and "The Fly" on during Zoo Tours.)
  • Larry's Popmart Main stage kit, w/each drum a different sparkle color finish.

These are a few of my favorite things...

Edge's Casino is sexxxxy! and I forgot about the Eric Clapton Strat...use it more often!!

Last I saw, the painted up Clapton Strat in question was on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Or at least it was in the special U2 exhibit that was there in Spring 2003-Spring 2004.

As you can see, the white pickguard was swapped out for a mauve-ish mirrored pickguard at some point.

Not sure if it's part of the permanent display that was put up when U2 were inducted.

Whatever the case, I'd love to see Edge playing that one again. Great looking and sounding guitar.

I still don't get why they put it in the Rattle and Hum case though.

I agree that most associate that guitar with Desire/The Fly from the Zoo tours. It seems that it'd make more sense to have been in the case for the Zoo TV/Zooropa tour items.

But they put it in the case that they did as it was first used during the Lovetown tour. (Per Dallas)

It's also in the Wild Irish Rose video. (1:18-1:55):

That said, many were not aware of that guitar until the artwork of Achtung Baby and the subsequent use during the Zoo tours.

Desire from ZOOTV NY.

The Fly from ZOOMERANG Sydney

My favorite Edge guitars are his Clapton Strat, his Goldtop Les Paul, and his Explorer.

Edge-wise I'd go GT LP, LP Cream Custom 75, Gibson Explorer, Clapton Strat, Epi Casino, Cream Telecaster (one used for Vertigo), Gibson SG, and his Gretsch Country Gentleman.

I have a question. Can you get the finish Edge has on his Clapton Strat stock on one? I'm just really curious and haven't found much on it. I think the finish is called "Pewter". Here are some pics for you to drool over.
