I can play it, because I?m able to listen and improvise about any pop song. Basically, I only do the chord structure and then fill it out with fitting melodies in between. The verse is just a plain C - Fmaj7 change repeating. In the "chorus" there is also G, like
she will (G on the one) suffer the (F on the one) needle chill
(G on the one) she?s running (F) to stand (C) still.
plus, make it a C9 and F9 in between. adding a little atmosphere. i like the ninth. dunno why but yeah.
editing for a few more details.. just played it, couldn?t resist
naturally, the Fmaj7 only appears at the start, then its more straight F. Plus, when changing from C to F (maj7), try an E in the bass at the last 1/4 of the bar, and a C7. special: why not make it a Gminor up there/ E in bass before changing to F, now that?s gospel. and you can also vary the F chord by adding a Bb in the last 1/4 of the bar, leaving the A out, and returning to a pure F chord in the last 1/8 (4-3 aka Bb-A progression).
