Did the Epiphone casino replace the zoo t.v semi hallow?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Not 100% sure what happened to the Gibson ES330TD. It may have perished in the studio flood that occured in 2002.

Like the Casino, the ES330TD ISN'T semi-hollow, it is hollow. There is no center soundblock, like one might find in a Gibson 335 or 355.

The similarity in construction, pickuip configuration, being hollow, etc would make the Casino a good replacement for a 330TD.

I first saw the Gibson ES330TD used for "One" on the ZOOTV tour. It makes an appearance in the "Who's Gonna Right Your Wild Horses" video. And it was used for "Holy Joe" during Popmart promo shows. I don't recall seeing it since.

The Casino first popped up during the HTDAAB promo shows, being used for "All Because of You". There are tons of pictures of Edge using it during the NLOTH sessions. As we saw in the live shows, he used it for "Breathe" and "No Line On The Horizon"

Keep in mind that it ws not just Edge that lost gear. Other band equipment and recording gear was destroyed.

As U2 were in New Orleans playing the Super Bowl when this occured, it's easy to see how Edge understood the pain of losing instruments and go involved in Music Rising after Hurricane Katrina.

(A furthher show of Edge's awesomeness)
