Answer to: What IS that gold finish (Echo Awards)

Long long ago we had some speculation about the finish of a particular gold Fender Precision bass that Adam was seen with on the Echo Awards and on David Letterman...

Looked to dark to be "Shoreline Gold" (and it is too dark to be that finish). And while it looks to have a bit of 'flake' in it, it didn't look like a glitter sparkle flake. (And it isn't a glitter sparkle flake).

After lots of searching and consulting Fender... Turns out, it looks to be Firemist Gold, which replaced Shoreline Gold at Fender in 1965 (through 1971).

Looks to match close if not exact to this jazz bass - which is in Firemist gold:
