Always is the b-side for Beautiful Day and I personally think it's one of U2's best songs. I can't seem to find a guitar tab for it though. Does anyone know where I can find a tab for this song or is anyone willing to tab this out?

thanks

just know these chords:

U2 - Always

B-Side of the single "Beautiful Day"
Release Date: October 9th, 2000

Tabbed by Michele Rossi < michele1982@hotmail.com > <
ICQ: 85686343 >

U2 are back! The real authentic old U2! Yahoooo!!
This song is very cool, and calls to mind "With Or
Without You"
(the bass is the same, what a feeling!) and, oh-oh,
also the same "Beautiful Day",
but in the right way. The melody is direct and
schizofrenic as the early songs.
So you'll never be tired of it. Enjoy the tab for
acoustic guitar.

So, I’ve been fooling around with this tune today, and made a transcription…
Hope you like it.
Make sure you have a lot of delay, you can get the timing right by just
listening to the intro.

Well, first we have the intro part (clean sound, with delay and reverb):

Play this twice

e -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b ------12--------12---12—11------------12-------12—12—14-----------------------
g--------×----------×----×----×--------------×---------×----×----×-------------------------

Then comes the first little riff before bono starts to sing (I’ll call it Riff 1):

e ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b -----------7h8-8-8p7-----10---8-8p7—7----------------7h8-8-8p7----10—---8p7—7----
g --------7---------------9------------------------------------7-------------9---------------------------

e -------------------------------------------------------------
b -----------7h8-8-8p7-----10---8-8p7—7-------------
g --------7---------------9-----------------------------------

Then bono starts singing, and edge does this….
again, it won’t sound good without delay (I’ll call this riff 2):

e ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b ----7h8p7h8p7------------7h8p7h8p7------------7h8p7h8p7-----------7h8p7h8p7-7----10--
g ----7-------------------------7--------------------------7------------------------7-----------------7-------

He does this the first time, than the second time he does:

e ----------------------------
b ----7h8p7h8p7---------4 times
g ----7-----------------------

also during this part, there’s a second guitar, this is only playing ×××××××

Than he goes into this beautiful day riff, there are actually two guitars here (chorus):

Guitar 1:

e ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b –3-3-----5—5------8------------------8-----7-----5----3-3—5/7/5/3--------------------
g ---------------------------9—9-9-9-----------------------------------------------------------

Guitar 2:

d –----7-7-7-9-9-12------5-5-5-5-5-5---12-12-12-12-12-×-7-7----7-7-7-7-7-7----
a –----7-7-7-9-9-12------5-5-5-5-5-5---12-12-12-12-12-×-7-7----7-7-7-7-7-7----
e –----5-5-5-7-7-10------3-3-3-3-3-3---10-10-10-10-10-×-5-5----5-5-5-5-5-5----

Just repeat this 3 times
Than Riff 1 again:

e --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b -----------7h8-8-8p7-----10---8-8p7—7----------------7h8-8-8p7----10---8-8p7—7---
g --------7---------------9------------------------------------7-------------9-------------------------

Than Riff 3, which is much like Riff 2, only slightly different:

e ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b ----7h8p7h8p7—7-7-------------7h8p7h8p7—7-7------------7h8p7h8p7--7-7--------7h8p7h8p7--7-7--8---
g ----7--------------------7------------7----------------------7----------7--------------------7------7----------------------7----

do this ones, than repeat (4 times):

e -------------------------------
b ----7h8p7h8p7—7-7-----
g ----7--------------------7----

Than back to the chorus:

Guitar 1:

e ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b –3-3-----5—5------8------------------8-----7-----5----3-3—5/7/5/3----------
g ---------------------------9—9-9-9--------------------------------------------------

Guitar 2:

d –----7-7-7-9-9-12------5-5-5-5-5-5---12-12-12-12-12-×-7-7----7-7-7-7-7-7------
a –----7-7-7-9-9-12------5-5-5-5-5-5---12-12-12-12-12-×-7-7----7-7-7-7-7-7-----
e –----5-5-5-7-7-10------3-3-3-3-3-3---10-10-10-10-10-×-5-5----5-5-5-5-5-5-----

Just repeat this 4 times.

Then comes the intermezzo part:

Riff 4:

e -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b -----6---5---3----------8---7---5-----------6---5---3---------8---7---5----------------5h7--------8-8p7--7p5--5h7---
g ------------------5-------------------7-------------------5-------------------7---------------------------------------------------

e -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b --------8--8--7--7—5-------------7h8--7--7—5-------------------------3--5/7/5/3----------------------------------------
g -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Than back to the chorus:

Guitar 1:

e -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b –3-3-----5—5------8------------------8-----7-----5----3-3—5/7/5/3------------------------------------------------------
g ---------------------------9—9-9-9----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guitar 2:

d –----7-7-7-9-9-12------5-5-5-5-5-5---12-12-12-12-12-×-7-7----7-7-7-7-7-7---------------------------------------
a –----7-7-7-9-9-12------5-5-5-5-5-5---12-12-12-12-12-×-7-7----7-7-7-7-7-7---------------------------------------
e –----5-5-5-7-7-10------3-3-3-3-3-3---10-10-10-10-10-×-5-5----5-5-5-5-5-5---------------------------------------

In the end Guitar 1 starts to fool around with these notes:

b ------------10-----12------15--------------17-----
g ----------------------------------12------------------

You’ll have to figure these last notes out yourself……it’s hard to hear what he’s playing…

Oeps, I just figured out that this part isn't right:

Then comes the first little riff before bono starts to sing (I’ll call it Riff 1):

e ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b -----------7h8-8-8p7-----10---8-8p7—7----------------7h8-8-8p7----10—---8p7—7----
g --------7---------------9------------------------------------7-------------9---------------------------

e -------------------------------------------------------------
b -----------7h8-8-8p7-----10---8-8p7—7-------------
g --------7---------------9-----------------------------------

you have to forget the g 9 during these riffs

Wow thanks a lot for the fast response, I love that song and my guitar instructor didn't seem to want to tab it out for me because he didn't like all the delay :eyebrow:

Thanks
