i've seen the riff from EBTTRT played many many ways.. (u know, the one when the chorus comes in) who knows how edge actually plays it live????

you've come to the right place

basically its these 5 power chords. I didn't put the strumming pattern down, but you can get that pretty easily by listening to the song. this is for the live versions, in the key of D.

Code:
e|-----------------------------|
b|-----------------------------|
g|-----------------------------|
d|--19--19--19--17--15--14--12-|
a|--x---x---x---x---x---x---x--|
E|--17--17--17--15--13--12--10-|

i always thought it was more similar to something like this:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
-15--15-15-15---13-12-13--12---10----10--10---------------------------
-14--14-14-14---12-11-10--9----7-----7---7----------------------------
-12--12-12-12---10-9--10--9----7-----7---7----------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Apparently there are two guitars
This isn't exactly the rhythm i'm just giving the notes basic idea

Code:
----------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------
-14-14-14-14-12-x-x-10--x-x-9-x-x-7-x-x--------
----------------------------------------------------------
-12-12-12-12-10-x-x--8---x-x-7-x-x-5-x-x-------
The second guitar is playing the same thing but on higher strings
Sometimes I include the middle string too cos it's sounds fuller and it's easier to play than that

but obviously in live performances Edge alters it

Geeze, muting that middle string is a pain for me, Edge was a real fan of that during Achtung Baby

if you play the E string with your index and the other string with your ring finger, then the index will 'automatically' mute the other string

muting is great for delay too
