A Fender Squier LOOKS like an Eric Clapton, Eric Johnson or just a plain ol' American Standard Stratocaster but the Squier certainly doesn't sound as good as the Clapton, Johnson or American Standard.

You CAN get your P-Bass refinished. I know someone that just got one of theirs refinished. From the pictures I saw... looked pretty great.

Your best bet would probably be to find a local refinisher or guitar builder willing to do a custom project. I'd definitely try to find someone who specializes in instruments. Independent luthiers whose previous work you can inspect would be ideal. It will be expensive but NOWHERE near the cost of an Adam Clayton Signature Stryker.
