Those notes jumped out at me on the very first listen of UC. I actually thought for a moment Bono might come back in and start singing the hymn. It's an awesome part of the song for me.

I really like the last minute and a half of this one, especially the solo, but the rest needs to grow on me. It sounds like a dirge at this point.

I love this song, but I can't help but feel that it's about two minutes too long, and despite that I still think it needs a middle 8. Had they cut the intro and the outro and put in a another section between the last two choruses it would have taken it up another level. The chant chorus is one of the best things the band has ever done.

It would also have suited being a little quicker as well.

The chant chorus is great. It's something that really appealed to me since the rough Beach clip version showed up. Whenever i think of this song the red colour comes to mind. Music has its colours...maybe that's the most passionately worked song in the studio. Along with MOS, NLOTH, Magnificent and Cedars the track will remain as one U2's treasures.
