I'm fine with the title. At least it's not claiming to be "the definitive collection" or "the greatest hits."

A second disc of live tracks for a deluxe version might just salvage this in my eyes. That would be nice to have... I guess.

if we are looking a gifthorse in the mouth, i would prefer a disc of unreleased tracks rather than a live disc.

we all know they still have a vault full of songs that have never been released, from most of their album recording sessions. I know there are songs from the POP & ATYCLB era we haven't yet heard. I am sure there are songs from Joshua Tree as well.

It won't happen, but it would be what I would want, personally. More songs for the collection.

I agree, I much prefer this name to anything with the worst "best" or "hits" in it. I also fully believe that this was suppose to be included with the delux version of U2 by U2, and since that got cancelled, they're going ahead and releasing it separately. It still ties in well with the book, it makes for a good gift for potential fans, and hey, it's a way for us to get a new song. Also, who knows what the delux version of this will contain.

I personally don't see it being all that evil, especially since the new song will be available separately for download.

is this their tribute to moby?

Limited Edition will simply cost more and include another fluffy bonus DVD..........like Elevation Boston.................HTDAAB..........Vertigo Chicago..........Sydney DVD..............

And let's face it. The record company makes more money if it's a bonus DVD because they don't have to pay out extra royalties for a disc of bonus tracks.

It should be 18:U2 instead...then we could call it "I Ate U2"

they should have named it after me because I'm their most critical, loyal, music loving fan

because of money they didn't do it

I will go cry in a corner now

I don't give up hope.

Anyone know Simply Red - they put out a "Greatest Hits" called "Simplified" with all there hits - but, they recorded it once again. Perhaps this is a little to much positive thinking -
at least I expect remastered versions of the older tracks.

I'm looking forward to the "new" album.:hyper:

and the "deluxe edition" is going to be a DVD (so it said on u2achtung) - perhaps finally the older tracks on DVD - that would be great.

I was thinking about that Extra DVD :hmm: It could be MUCH BETTER a Bonus Audio DVD with dozens of songs (For example: all their singles plus Electric Co, Surrender, Bad, Bullet The Blue Sky, Running To Stand Still, Zooropa, The First Time, Gone, Kite, etc, ) rather than the videos of the same 16 songs . Don't forget we already have the DVD 90s videos of the songs on "18" and at least we have the VHS 80s videos of the songs on this compilation. So repeating the same videos for the same songs already featured on best of 80-90 and 90-00 it's pointless.

I have a friend from Wales who make documentaries for BBC and create DVD's. He told me that it isn't hard at all creating an Audio DVD, specially considering that U2 have BILLIONS of images to fill the music  Even there're professional programs (not those ones you can get for free around there) that can make sync between music and slideshows, can convert the formats automatically, etc

Also he told me that if you have the original multitracks masters, the 5.1 mix is not that hard :applaud:

Sorry to raise everyone's hopes. It turns out that U2 have registered the following websites:

U218.com
U218.net
U2eighteen.com
U2eighteen.net

....because they are breaking into the porn industry. Yep, sellouts that they are, U2 have recognized that one of the few cashcows that they haven't cashed in on is that of the ol' wanker-flogging, webcam-loving, T&A business! It is rumored that these sites are also to be purchased by the band:

u2cheerleaders.org
u2collegecoeds.com
u2milfs.net (featuring several interferencers)

Everyone seems to think that U2 are nothing but 4 money-grubbing, heartless bastards. :sigh: I suppose it's true.

they should name it THE BIG SELLOUT
why do you still hang around? you and a few others seem to have been dissapointed in the band for years, yet you still decide to spend so much time visting a forum designed for new material from the band you seem to hate?

would your time not be better spent doing something you really do enjoy?

18 as in 18 songs on the CD, symbolic 18 as in coming of age, ending an era etc

Much better than calling it "The definitive Best of"

MUCH BETTER? They shouldn't even name that infamous word "Definitive" ...
