Down at HQ yesterday there was a lorry full of equipment, and an outside broadcast and video specialist crew! Lots of people coming in and going out.... and even a couple "musician" looking types leaving with guitars. wtf? :)

Larry did some drumming, and the B-man did some vocals.

Mmmm... I smell a promo vid for the first single? :hyper:

Forgot to say that as well as Brian Eno (who is lovely, by the way! :) ) Catherine Owens was there, so her presence seems to scream video!

:hyper::drool:
The only question is: Is this going to be a little documentary as we saw last time around (U2 and 3 songs) or actually the video for the first single (Vertigo - Hanover Quay version)? I personally hope that it's the single video since Catherine is present.

Its a bit early isnt it for a music video, my guess is a promo. But if catherine was there who knows......:hyper:

It's early as far as we are concerned, because of course we won't hear a single for a while. But who knows how these things work? I don't. Maybe they get it in the bag early. If the song is fully formed why not do it early?

Another point to note is that all the people who were working on the equipment side of things were kept separate from the main studio and were not allowed into that part. Just in case anything leaked I guess.

HIAS

I want your bugging device... you seem to know how the conversations go.

Just yanking your chain.... :cute:

The truth is, we will never really know until we see something and go "oh, that was it!" It's fun to speculate though. But I agree with Lazarus.... you wouldn't necessarily need Catherine for a mess about video in the studio. She could just have been there to hang out. Who knows?

Or.... and I just thought of this :hyper:.... maybe a 3D film for inclusion in the DVD. Complete with little Armani glasses with funny coloured lenses!

Larry: Hey Catherine, I'm leading the charge to cut two of the best songs off the album again for reasons of length.

Catherine: Holy shit, I really need to get that boneheaded move on film this time.

Great and exciting news, thanks for sharing!

Sounds like things are really getting serious right now. Maybe Catherine was there to discuss some concepts for the tour or for videos with them?

sounds cool. when you think about it, if the album is coming out in October, we'll probably be hearing the new single in about 2 months! :hyper:

Well, I don't think the album is coming out in October. I think the comment about that (in my interpretation) is that it will be finished in October. But then you have all the production of the actual hardware and the marketing etc. Not that a product like this needs much marketing. Someone just needs to say: "Okay, it's here. Come and get it" and then dodge the stampede!!!

Errr, no, all the recent comments were like: We're finishing the album now (was it Lanois or Eno who said only one more week to go? - Steve Lillywhite is already there, I guess he's doing the final mixing) and aiming for a release mid/late October. Paul McGuiness also said so in his latest interview.

I guess we'll have a single in August/September.

I stand corrected, LU :)

I guess I haven't trawled through all the posts/threads properly yet. But if that is what was said, can't argue with it.

Although the start of the "Album Release in October?" thread, just says that a fan was talking to Sam and sam said:

"It has to be ready for October" were his exact words.

Not really conclusive on the actual release date, unless there are some direct, official quotes.

There have been enough quotes from enough sources that we're fairly confident. However, we are still unsure whether October means released then, or finished off for the record company to press and release in November.

Follow the Grammy rules and you'll see everything clearly. The first single will hit before the September 30th cutoff date to qualify for the next Grammy Awards. Obviously, the album will soon follow in the next month or (at latest) in November. Paul loves to have a U2 album exposed to back to back Grammy years for maximum promotional purposes.
I think Catherine is obviously filming something now, but more importantly... she is getting some theme design ideas for the tour!

I think Paul McGuinness quote from yesterday to Radio 6 is pretty clear:

The exact release date, he said, was "not clear yet but I would think towards the end of October".

Leads me to believe they're shooting for late October but it's not written in stone.

Great points!

I like the imagination of Interference going wild.
