There’s no way MoS will be a single. It will be some order of Magnificent, Crazy Tonight and Breathe, but more likely Stand Up Comedy. They’ve fucked the album for nothing if they put Crazy and Comedy in there and don’t use them as singles.
I’ve said in another thread that Magnificent might not be as a big a single as some people think. The quality could get buried in the familiarity. If it were the lead single, with all the promo push that it gets, it would have likely been huge, certainly moreso than Boots. But when it’s coming in as the 2nd or 3rd single, it has to sell itself. And as great as it is, it will be a very-U2 song with a very-Bono lyric and it might easily not get a fair run because of that.
I do hope they give it a great video. Hand it over to a great director and let them do whatever they want. What wouldn’t be good: a ‘live’/performance video or one that focuses a story around the band or a band member. What would be cool: a clip that doesn’t even feature the band at all, or only very barely/briefly.
