Album Delay: The real reasons

I don't like G'n'R (I used to like them back in the 90s) and had no idea they were still making music, but after hearing about their album release I immediately thought that this could very well be one of the reasons for U2 to delay. I mean, G'n'R haven't released an album for like 85 years and it indeed seems to be a big event, so who knows.

U2 will have all of 2009.

I personally doubt in spring release. Of course, I'd love to hear new songs soon, but I suspect the recording of the new album doesn't go to well

I could only muster about 4 or 5 songs before vomit spewed from my eardrums and I turned it off.

I hate to say that it sounds dated and a little bit too late for this type of album release...but it is.

Its too bad too, because I really liked GnR and wished this album would be a nice comeback for them. Just not gonna happen for them...sorry Axl.

Excellent post, my opinion is pretty much the same as yours. He shouldn't be awarded the Peace Prize just yet in my opinion. There's still time for him to get it later on.

I pity the politicians who are in office when Bono decides to put down the mic and be a full time activist/ pain in the ass. I mean that in a good way... I'd say if he can handle the biggest rock group on the planet and his charity work at the same time AND get the kind of results and recognition he has up until now, imagine a Bono off the U2 leash... at least in terms of massive album projects and worldwide touring.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned before but this is a long thread. I think someone realized that The U.S. election was going to be a big, black hole for a U2 album release. Not to say that U.S. politics is the biggest thing in the world (relax, euros!)

But.... who would want to compete with Obama? Once Obama wins, it is going to be more Obama mania over here than ever before... Not a good time to release a U2 Album in the states. Once Barack is inaugurated in Jan and we all start getting totally "hopey-changey", a good heart-felt, inspirational U2 album will sit just right over here... It could even be the soundtrack...
