I saw a pic in a book once... Edge w/o a hat, looked like maybe Pop Era, he was kneeling down... wait, now that I think about it, maybe he was wearing a bowler hat - THAT'S IT! PopEdge (or just before that, maybe just after) kneeling/crouching down, wearing a bowler hat (like the one in the Magritte paintings).

Does anyone have any clue what I'm talking about?

I think there's one more to the set too. :hmm: I'll check, but I'm sure the first one should make zooey happy.

 Where are these from? I've never seen them before!

I know there's another pic, as BC said. One or all were in a magazine, or maybe even Propaganda, at some point because some of the original pic(s) have a guitar quote on them. I know I have one pic somewhere in a magazine but I have so many that I have no clue where it's from. I know that doesn't help much but I've seen these pics for years in various places so I can't pinpoint the original spot.

^ Yep, this one:

And this one might be from the same set of pics (?)

The first one is in U2 by U2. In the credits it says it was taken by a photographer called Brendan Fitzpatrick.

zomg!!! That's the one!! Thank you so much. I saw it in a book at a used bookstore and the book didn't look that great so I wasn't going to spend $7 for that one pic. Those first two are sooooooooo beautiful

Thanks for the info, interesting that after so many years there's still pics floating around that I've never seen! :) Edge should go without a hat more often.

A moment of silence for this poor guitar. This being Edge's Gibson 330. He used it for "One" during the Zoo tours. It's seen in the "Who's Gonna Ride..." video. And was used for "Holy Joe" at the K-Mart Popmart launch.

So a moment of silence? Legend has it that it was destroyed in the studio flood in early 2002.

Yes he should. :combust:
:shifty: Might as well get back to the Pornstache too then.

Has he used this guitar after the Popmart tour? :hmm:

Not to go too far off subject... (I know, I already have)....

No, the Gibson 330 wasn't used after Popmart. Other than the K-Mart show, it wasn't used during Popmart, that I remember. (Perhaps you might be confusing the Epiphone Casino, used for "All Because of You", "Breathe" and "No Line On the Horizon" for the Gibson 330).

The Gibson 330 was destroyed in the Hanover Quay studio flood. Sadly, all of the band lost a lot of gear.

Edge's 1967 fireglo Rickenbacker (used from Rattle and Hum era through Elevation tour). It survived the Boston Elevation 'toss and kick'. Well, it did require repairs... but was only to expire in the flood.

Hence Edge using the mapleglo Rickenbacker for most 12-string work. (The fireglo used for "Sometimes... " during Vertigo tour was a replacement 1966.)

Notice that Adam didn't use any of the Lakland bass guitars that he had during Elevation AFTER Elevation. (The Bob Glaub and Joe Osborne model Laklands). Pre-Vertigo tour, Dallas went out and found Adam the shoreline gold and sherwood green Fender bass guitars... He had new Laklands made for Vertigo. (the metallic green and the gold Daryl Jones models).

Anywho... enough of my lamenting over lost guitars... (But it is just so sad)

I'm not confusing it, I was just wondering because I hadn't seen it being used after that K-mart performance. Can you be sure he didn't just sell it after that show?

That flood was a real shame. So much equipment lost by water. Ah well, I guess it's the risk of having your studio in the docklands.

No, it wasn't sold. My assessment isn't because I've not seen it since the K-Mart show. I've asked about it and was told it was one of the flood victims.

Having the flood happen, while U2 were playing the Super Bowl in New Orleans... it's easy to see why Edge felt an affinity for Gulf Coast musicians 3 years later when Hurricane Katrina hit.
