In the 90's Bono told the press that Dave Gahan "was definetly not the brain in the band..." maybe it refered to Dave's junky period.

Pretty sure that was Dave Grohl. Could've said it about Gahan, too... but I kinda doubt it.

I love both bands, but never ever saw there spheres collide.. so DM's cover of 'So Cruel' came as nice surprise

I also love them both! That's why I made this thread (well, in fact I love U2 a lot more, but that's not the point).
I thought they might have met at some point in their careers, but apparently not...
