Origin of "The Fly" (solved?)

So where DID "The Fly" character come from?

Bono said that it started when Finton Fitzgerald brought him the original "Fly" glasses for the video.

But where did the glasses come from?

Maybe they came from another video? Maybe they came from 1982? Maybe they came from here? (9 years before Bono used similar, if not the same glasses)

That there is Mike Campbell (fantastic guitar player) for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. That picture is a vid-print of him at about 37 seconds into the "You Got Lucky" video.

:hmm: Interesting find there E_O! I've wondered about this a few times and this seems like the same model to me. Just a bit more worn than Bonos.
