Rocker does fare share of parenting

By Michael Sharkey

U2's Larry Mullen Jnr. confessed he feels more like a taxi driver
than a rocker as he ferries his kids around so much.

The Dublin-born drummer made the revelation after being asked about a
typical day away from the group.

Father-of-three Larry added: "There's rarely a day when there isn't
something to do with the band. But a lot of the time I feel like I
should put a cap on my head and a sign over my car with taxi written
on it.

"I spend a lot of time ferrying children, including other people's,
to various houses.

There's swimming, ballet, soccer -- it goes on.

"And if you are left in charge, food is a big issue.

"Everyone wants different things. So I spend a lot of time in the
kitchen. But I enjoy it."

Larry, 47, confessed having a family has left him with little time to
indulge his passion for motorcycles.

He added: "I still love bikes. But I haven't ridden in a long time.
Having kids changed that.

"Not only from the safety point of view. You have choices -- what are
you going to do?

"Go off for three days with your tent or actually take care of your
kids?

"In 10 years time I'll have as much time as I want to go off and do
all those things." The millionaire star also revealed that he and his
bandmates don't socialise as much as they used to after working in
the studio.

He told Q magazine: "It happens occasionally. But when I'm finished
on Friday, I'm straight home to see my family.

"That's my choice. So we spend less time on a social level. We're
still friends, but it's a lot more difficult now.

"It's not the four guys fighting the world. That doesn't exist any
more. The opportunity to just sit around the pub and have a pint and
talk doesn't happen as often as it should."

I spend a lot of time ferrying children to ballet, swimming and
soccer."

poor larry... driving all over town with the kiddies..:D

I read that and thought it was funny. The part about his 13 year old son getting notes from teachers.

Family man

Interesting that he says that thing about not socializing with the rest of the band anymore. I wonder if Adam still does or if it's really just BEdge?

Oh yes, that quote about Aaron getting in trouble at school and whatnot. Makes me wonder if he's turning the hose on girls or something. Or perhaps disappearing /with/ them. *snickers*

That and the boys apparently have drummer hands happening, not that Larry's happy about it. Uh oh. Anne's surrounded by drummers!:p

I like the part where Bono talks about Eli and Levi having ryhming names and theyare almost the same age and he doesn't want them to start a band.

has any one copied the larry parts of the interview in Q and posted it? ive only managed to find the Bono sections

After all the years of the record companies looking for "the next U2" wouldn't it be hilarious if the next U2 was the U2 kids? They could be U2:Next Gen. :D

^ Notice how all the boys' names sound almost alike.

Adam should hurry up if he wants to contribute something for that "next U2" band.

For me, the funniest part of the interview was when Larry talked about always being in the kitchen fixing food when he was in charge of the kids.

Larry in the kitchen... not an image that I had ever imagined for him, to say the least!!

But one, I must say, that I just love!! I'll cook with you anytime, Mr. Mullen! :flirt:

:applaud::drool::drool:
